That's why the field was set like that. Ollie Robinson needs some work on his hook shot. That was only going to one place.

Robinson c Smith b Cummins 1 (Eng 302-8)
This could be over pretty quickly now.
It is an ugly hook from Ollie Robinson that top-edges straight to Steve Smith in the deep.
Australia are jubilant.

Been resisting turning on the cricket all day so I don't jinx Stokes. First full over I see and he's out... I'm sorry England!
Joe
I've not dared move a muscle all afternoon in case it brought bad luck. As soon as husband gets up from his chair we lose Stokes. I can only apologise to England on his behalf. There will be words when he comes back downstairs!

Ben Stokes's innings were 155 runs from 214 ball. He scored nine sixes and nine fours.
Stokes was 62 off 126 balls when Jonny Bairstow was stumped.
The sixes was an all time record for an Ashes innings and it's the highest for someone batting at six or lower.
Need 69 runs to win
The Lord's crowd is stunned into near silence. Is that the decisive moment?
Ollie Robinson steps back and attempts to cream his first ball through the covers but gets nothing on it. Give yourself a few deliveries, Ollie!
He does manage to get off the mark with a clip off the pads.

This is not over!
Sam, Crowborough
What a shame Stokesy. There goes the Ashes sadly.
Mark
It's a game of opinions, folks!

England still need 70 to win.

What an innings from England's captain.
All of Lord's rises to Ben Stokes. He has taken his team to 70 within levelling the Ashes. Wow.
Matthew Henry
BBC Sport at Lord's
25,000 people have just groaned in unison. Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja are the two Australians to pat him on the back.
Even the Aussie supporters are on their feet.
Stokes c Carey b Hazlewood 155 (Eng 301-7)
Oh no. Ben Stokes goes for the pull shot but can only top-edge the ball into the sky and Alex Carey sprints several metres to take the catch.
Stokes looks crestfallen. He is immediately congratulated by Steve Smith.
The whole of Lord's, including the Australian supporters, applaud the England skipper as he trudges off the field.
A truly epic innings comes to an end.

The closer you get, the harder it is.
What an innings by Stokes, fuelled by anger, but we have moved away from that now.
Target 371
Stuart Broad ducks out of a bouncer before seeing off the final ball with a defensive shot off the back foot.
Nervous applause all round Lord's.
Make that 70 to win. Pat Cummins has bowled a wild wide way outside off stump.
There are singles all over the field. Ben Stokes eventually goes for one with the fourth ball of the over to bring up the England 300.
71 more needed.
Pat Cummins will bowl the first over after drinks.
Will that break have impacted on England's concentration?
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
We just know Broad loves the stage and the drama. Drinks breaks are always dangerous for batters in terms of concentration.
Broad and Stokes might've nipped up to say something to the others in the dressing room.
Once you get to a stage when you're only bowling for a mistake, then it's dangerous.

I listened to Ben Stokes winning the World Cup final lying on the beach in the Dominican Republic. Today I am on the beach in Cuba. I should do this more often!

Stokes has got a lot of confidence in Broad. What can Australia do to remove Stokes who is playing his best Test innings?!

Philip: I'm not joking about seven Ashes Tests in future series. Most major American sport playoffs do a best of seven series. I always felt it was too much, but if you have two fairly balanced & intense rivals it can be perfect.
Seven?! Five is stressful enough, Philip!
Ben Stokes has his game face on.
