Jamie Overton is promoted and immediately drives a low full toss through cover.

But then a stinky full toss is whacked over midwicket for six. Big blow from JO.

Middlesex now out of time as well so they lose a boundary rider.

Huge slice of luck for Tom Curran to begin the 16th.

He totally mistimes an attempted whack to leg, it doesn't get outside the 30-yard circle but neither deep mid-wicket, long-on, nor the bowler can get there in time.

Brother Sam takes over and pulls for four up the hill to get to fifty in 38 balls.

I've just been looking... Surrey's best score is 250-6 against Kent at Canterbury in 2018.

They are looking good with eight wickets standing. Can they get up towards that?

    Nathan Fernandes again for Middlesex.

Sam Curran swings the first ball high into the pavilion for six.

Then goes back and pulls six more over mid-wicket.

Curran goes back and times a drive over extra-cover for almost another maximum.

But the young spinner sees out the rest of the over well.

Surrey are looking like they are going to be well up and over 200 here. That is going to formidable given the talent Surrey have with bat and ball.

Look at the timing on Tom Curran. They are looking good, Surrey, this is looking ominous for Middlesex.

Then on the back foot he crashes one over extra-cover for four more.

Then goes again off the front foot past the same fielder!

    Superb hitting from TC.

Full and wide from Higgins and Curran flicks the wrists and gets four more past backward point.

And last ball, another drive squirts past short-third man for a fifth consecutive boundary!

    Surrey back in superb shape.

    Middlesex v Surrey 71-2 (8 overs)

    Mark Church
Surrey commentator for BBC Radio London

What a fantastic catch that was from Tom Helm, Will Jacks didn't get all of it but he's a tall man and he's come running in, he's got a lot of ground to cover and he has to dive forward. It's a great catch. He's sprinting and he has a long way to come down. A very, very good catch.

    Luke Hollman's leg-spin now.

Slightly wide to Sam Curran and he cuts very hard just past cover.

It's technically a chance for Steve Eskinazi but was hit so hard he barely had chance to move to his right.

Then a drag down to Will Jacks is heaved towards the Grandstand and all the way for a flat six.

    It starts off very tidily.

But then a bit of width is whacked past backward point by Will Jacks.

And he follows with another slam through cover.

Very healthy Powerplay for Surrey after winning the toss.

Jacks has 36 off 17 balls.
