    Second over for Blake Cullen as well.

    Sunil Narine with a mistimed drive into the covers and then beaten by a length ball that flies through.

    Cullen then goes too full and Narine drives over mid-off for four.

    Back to a good length and an inside edge onto knee. Ouch.

    A bumper is mistimed to long leg and Will Jacks is back on strike but only drives to long-off for a single.

    Middlesex are up against it here early on, 33 from the opening three overs, a couple of extrordinary shots from Will Jacks, but you can't bowl there.

    The overseas player Pieter Malan is going to be have to play a big leadership role in this very young Middlesex side.

    Second over from Tom Helm and he starts with a full toss that Sunil Narine belts back past him for four.

    Another straight drive is well fielded at mid-on before a mistimed pull for one just wide of the same fielder.

    Will Jacks back on strike, shuffles outside leg, Helm follows him but Jacks whips it past short-fine leg for four.

    And then lifts a low full toss up and over extra-cover into the Mound Stand for six!

    Great start for England's Jacks and Surrey.

    Some early swing for Tom Helm and quickly one slip becomes two and then three.

    Will Jacks responds by shuffling down and whacks one to long-off.

    It's a great save from Martin Andersson running to his right but he's damaged his hand and has to go off.

    Jacks punches the next ball off the front foot past point for four.

    A leading edge then flies over backward point and they take two more.

    The wonderfully higgledey-piggledy nature of the T20 Blast went up a notch earlier today.

    Lancashire's game started at 12:30 BST this lunchtime with Thunder hosting The Blaze in the Charlotte Edwards Cup after.

    The start time mattered not for Lancs as they waltzed to victory over Leicestershire by eight wickets at Old Trafford.

    Jason Roy was supposed be making his first appearance of the season for Surrey tonight.

    But he's injured a calf in the warm-up and has been ruled out.

    Earlier today, Roy declared his intention to play in the new Major League Cricket tournament, set to be hosted in the United States later this summer.

    It means he has given up his incremental contract with the ECB.

    But the board said in a statement they were confident Roy remains committed to playing for England.
