  4. SOMERSET BEAT SUSSEX BY 5 WICKETSpublished at 22:05 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

    Sussex 183-8 v Somerset 184-5

Fynn Hudson-Prentice went for 45 from his opening two overs but he gets thrown the ball for the final over.

Single to Lewis Gregory off the first.

Ben Green swats the first ball he sees through mid-wicket with aplomb to dissect the fielders and find the rope. What a shot under pressure.

Green then repeats the feat for a single to win it with three balls to spare. Wow.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore's swashbuckling 72 from 42 balls with five sixes took Somerset to the brink of this thrilling win at Hove.

Ravi Bopara hit 88 from 49 balls to drag Sussex to 183-8 after being put in, but the hosts ultimately had no answer to Tomerset.

Tom Banton smashed 32 from 15 balls then Tom Kohler-Cadmore provided his fireworks in a 104-run stand with Tom Abell, who was run out for 42 in the frantic finale.

Ravi Bopara takes the penultimate over and though the visitors get the ball off the square each time it's only singles.... UNTIL THE FINAL BALL WHEN TOM ABELL IS RUN OUT AFTER LEWIS GREGORY HOLDS HIS GROUND RATHER THAN COMPLETING THE SECOND RUN.

Wow. From 162-3 to 178-5 in the last three overs.

Six needed from the final over and no Toms left.

Tom Abell hooks Tymal Mills's final delivery over the fingertips of keeper Michael Burgess and away to the fence for a priceless four.

12 needed from the final two overs.

  7. South Group updatepublished at 21:54 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

Now then. Tom Lammonby has been caught scooping on the rope at fine leg by James Coles off Tymal Mills.

Somerset are 167-4 needing 184 to win with 14 balls remaining.

Lewis Gregory joins Tom Abell who has 36 from 31 but can't get on strike.

  8. South Group updatepublished at 21:51 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

Somerset will possibly be feeling a little nervous. They have lost Tom Kohler-Cadmore for 72 from 42 balls and Nathan McAndrew has just sent down five straight dot balls in the 17th over to leave the visitors needing 20 from 18 balls.

  9. HAMPSHIRE BEAT MIDDLESEX BY 8 WICKETSpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

    Hampshire 172-2 v Middlesex 171

Hampshire bounce back from their heavy defeat in their opening game to cruise past Middlesex with 13 balls to spare.

James Vince, of course, was the hero with a sublime 88 not out while Ben McDermott made a tidy 39 and Tom Prest added 30 from 17 balls.

Pieter Malan's imperious 80 from 45 balls was in vain, with only Stephen Eskinazi (31) and Ryan Higgins (27) contributing to their below-par 171 all-out. It's back-to-back drubbings to start the Middlesex campaign.

Surrey beat Kent by 41 runs

Surrey captain Sam Curran tells Sky Sports:

"In the position we were in someone had to step up and that was pretty special from Sean.

"The way Kent came out showed how good the pitch was but our bowlers stuck together and we finished pretty well.

"They were playing really well but we knew if we hung in there they would have to keep striking and in the end we're really happy."

  11. South Group updatepublished at 21:37 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

Hampshire are 153-2 needing 19 from four overs, despite seeing Tom Prest dismissed for 30 from 17 balls, bowled by Luke Hollman.

Kent captain Sam Billings tells Sky Sports:

"It was pretty special from Sean Abbott. We were pretty good until about the 12th over but then lost our way a bit.

"We had to keep going with the bat and scrambling to 182 was a pretty good effort.

"When someone is smoking it like that you can just say it was one of those days."

    Surrey 223-5 v Kent 182-7

Well what an extraordinary game really.

The first half of the Surrey innings was tight and tense but then Sean Abbott came out swinging like he's never swung before and made a 34-ball hundred, the joint-fastest in English T20 history.

He finished 110 not out and Surrey had a massive total.

Kent gave a brave chase, reaching 108-0 in the 10th over but the fell away pretty quickly.

Two wins from two for Surrey and a first defeat for Kent after winning their first game.

Sean Abbott won the game with his fabulous hundred and now he's back to finish the game off.

But his first ball gets whacked over extra-cover for six by Grant Stewart.

Then a slap down the ground but just a single.

Two slower-ball bumpers are then swung at and missed by Joey Evison. They run a bye on the second.

Another slow short ball and Stewart makes no contact.

And the final ball is a quick bouncer and Stewart swings and misses.

  15. South Group updatepublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

James Vince has moved onto 67 from 39 bals and Hampshire are 133-1 needing 39 to overcome Middlesex in seven overs.

Poor old Fynn Hudson-Prentice conceded 29 off his first over for Sussex, he's back for a second but that meanie Tom Kohler-Cadmore hits him for consecutive sixes to move to 39 from 22. Only 16 off this over though. Somerset need 79 to win from nine overs.

Gus Atkinson to finish off at the Vauxhall End.

Grant Stewart gets hold of one and clubs it over cover way back for six.

A quick bumper then beats him and he drives hard to extra-cover before taking a leg side single.

Joey Evison then takes a short ball on the helmet, plumb on the badge, but looks okay.

van der Gugten wallops the first ball of the over from Tom Smith for six and they have won it by two wickets with five balls to spare.

Phew. What a game. Glamorgan were 121-3 from 13.1 overs but made hard work of it.

  19. Kent need 58 in 12 ballspublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 26 May 2023

    Surrey 223-5 v Kent 166-7 (18 overs)

Nice and steady from Sam Curran and little the lower order can do.

Grant Stewart swings to deep midwicket but Jamie Overton can't take it running in.

    Sam Curran finishes with 1-29.

    Breaking

    Derbyshire 178-6 v Notts Outlaws 182-6

They made heavy weather of it in the end, but Samit Patel hits the final ball of a dramatic George Scrimshaw over to see Notts Outlaws home with three overs to spare.

Three wickets in that over give Scrimshaw figures of 3-52 from his four, and Derbyshire have now lost both their opening matches.

They posted a decent total after 61 and 53 by Wayne Madsen and Luis Reece, but Joe Clarke's 68 from 29 balls gave Notts a flying start towards their target, and Matt Montgomery chipped in with 51.
