  1. Postpublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 162-4 (18 overs)

Great over by Tom Bailey who gives up just four runs and collects the wicket of Sam Curran.

Surrey - winners of the inaugural Twenty20 Cup back in 2003 - will probably settle for anything over 180 from here.

  2. Postpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 39-6 (9 overs)

The lowest Worcestershire T20 score is 53 against Lancashire at Old Trafford in 2016.

Looks a long way off still, despite a misfield gifting them only their fourth boundary of the innings.

The usually rampaging Ed Pollock has so far managed only two singles from eight balls.

He has been doing a lot of work on his defences for red-ball cricket, but he probably was not expecting to be in full 'blocker' mode tonight.

  3. wicket

    WICKET S Curran c Vilas b Bailey 17published at 19:38 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 158-4 (17.2 overs)

Big wicket for Lancashire as Sam Curran hits the ball powerfully over mid-off and Dane Vilas dives forward to take a good catch.

Surrey skipper Chris Jordan is the new batter and his team need him to produce something special.

  4. Postpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 158-3 (17 overs)

Surrey need a few sixes but there aren't any in that over as Luke Wells finishes his allocation with fine figures of 0-26.

Sam Curran does manage a boundary to mid-wicket and he is 17 not out, with Jamie Overton on six, and there are three overs left.

  5. wicket

WICKET Cox c Fuller b Ellis 8published at 19:35 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 29-6 (7.1 overs)

Nathan Ellis comes on and takes a wicket with his first ball.

Ben Cox is the latest to go, caught by James Fuller at midwicket.

    Carnage!

A so far restrained Ed Pollock is joined by Usama Mir.

  6. wicket

WICKET Moores c Shodi b Gregory 8published at 15.6 overs

    Somerset v Notts 108-6

Tom Moores slaps straight to Ben Green at extra-cover but the ball bounces straight out of his hands!

No bother for Somerset as Moores paddle sweeps his next delivery straight to short-fine leg.

24 balls remaining and Notts have got to get to at least 150 to have even a whiff of a sniff of a chance.

  7. Postpublished at 19:34 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 150-3 (16 overs)

Daryl Mitchell is slightly short and Sam Curran clubs it baseball-style down the ground for four.

A single brings Jamie Overton onto strike and perfect timing - undue force unnecessary - brings him a boundary to point.

Curran swishes and misses to end the over and Surrey need a big finish if they are to prevent Lancashire extending their impressive T20 home record.

  8. wicket

WICKET Kashif Ali b Fuller 2published at 19:30 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 29-5 (6.2 overs)

This is turning into a nightmare for Worcestershire.

Half the team out - and not past 30 yet!!!

Kashif Ali is the latest to go, bowed by James Fuller to a shot he won't want to see again.

    Ed Pollock comes in.

  9. wicket

WICKET Montgomery c Overton b Green 51published at 14.4 overs

    Somerset v Notts 102-5

But Matt Montgomery is gone the ball after reaching his fifty!

Skies one up looking to heave Ben Green down the ground and is really well caught by Craig Overton sprinting off the long-off fence.

  10. Powerplay overpublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 29-4 (6 overs)

Oh dear. Powerplay ends with Worcestershire on 29-4.

More like a power cut, that one!

The Pears are in the hands of Kashif Ali and Ben Cox now, with Ed Pollock and a few tail-end big-hitters to come.

  11. wicket

WICKET Roy c Croft b Wood 50published at 19:29 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 140-3 (15 overs)

Jason Roy tries to carve the final ball of Luke Wood's over over the off-side but he doesn't time it perfectly and Steven Croft - playing his 238th T20 game - takes a fine catch running back.

Roy made 50 off 34 balls with a six and four fours. Jamie Overton is in at number five.

  12. 50 runs

for Matt Montgomerypublished at 14.3 overs

    Somerset v Notts 102-4

Well at least someone is keeping this innings together for Notts.

Matt Montgomery get to a 37-ball half-century with eight fours.

He reverse-sweeps Ish Shodi over backward point for four and then hacks one just past deep midwicket to raise fifty.

  13. 50 runs

for Jason Roypublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 140-2 (14.5 overs)

Luke Wood bangs in a bouncer which is called no ball and Jason Roy drags the free hit down to long on for two to reach 50 off 32 balls.

  14. 6 runs

Postpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 131-2 (14 overs)

Jason Roy tries orthodox and reverse sweeps off Liam Livingstone and doesn't make clean contact with either.

Nothing wrong with that, though, as he hoists the ball over mid-wicket for six and progresses to 45 not out in only his second T20 innings of the competition.

  15. wicket

WICKET Patel b Gregory 30published at 12.4 overs

    Somerset v Notts 86-4

Samit Patel had been gagging for a big strike and aims a heave at Lewis Gregory.

But Gregory has done him with a change of pace and clips his off bail.

Somerset break a stand of 69.

  16. Postpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 119-2 (13 overs)

Tom Hartley again and Jason Roy unfurls the reverse sweep to find the third man boundary.

Lanky the giraffe is patrolling the boundary - wonder what he/she is making of the home side's efforts so far.

Roy pulls a short ball but can only add two as Phil Salt makes an excellent diving save in the deep.

  17. Postpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Somerset v Notts 83-3 (12 overs)

Notts just beginning to up the ante a little and this is a solid partnership between Matt Montgomery and Samit Patel.

Montgomery has swept Ish Shodi for four and driven Ben Green wide of cover for another boundary.

But a couple of hacks from Patel only bring edges for singles and a great deal of frustration.

They probably need at least 80 from these final eight overs to have a chance.

  18. wicket

WICKET Hose c sub b Turner 0published at 3.3 overs

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 17-4

    Oh no!!! Another one gone!

Isel Of Wight-born Adam Hose skies one for a third-ball duck in his own private local derby,

Ben Cox, Worcestershire's Finals Day hero in 2018, comes in to join Kashif Ali with his side in a right mess.

  19. Postpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 7 July 2023

    Lancs v Surrey 110-2 (12 overs)

Sam Curran is the new Surrey batter and is immediately under way with one run. Risk free cricket by Jason Roy brings him a couple of twos and a single to end the over.

  20. wicket

WICKET Santner c Vince b Wood 13published at 3 overs

    Hampshire v Worcestershire 16-3

Disaster for Worcestershire as in-form Mitchell Santner goes six-four-OUT.

    Big trouble for the Pears.
