A decent bit of pace here from Julius Sumerauer, but George Munsey produces brilliant midriff pull to lace it away.

His next shot goes downtown, over the bowler's head. Good start, this.

  2. Munsey and Hairs look to repeat yesterday's heroicspublished at 1 overs

    Scotland 13-0 v Jersey

Scotland's openers - George Munsey and Oli Hairs - impressed yesterday. Hairs made his best ever total for Scotland in ODI, with a fantastic 73.

Munsey gets off the mark with just his second ball, pulling it away to the rope. They're quite short boundaries here at the Grange. He'll be happy about that.

With his first shot, Hairs then clubs one through the covers for a comfortable four.

A win over Scotland would arguably be the biggest in Jersey's history.

But while the odds maybe against them, who should the hosts be wary of this afternoon?

    Nick GreenwoodImage source, ICC

Nick Greenwood is the only Jersey player currently playing First Class cricket.

The 23-year-old all-rounder was born in Jersey before his family emigrated to New Zealand when he was two.

He plays for Wellington in New Zealand's Plunkett Shield and recorded his best batting and bowling figures in a T20 international in Thursday's win over Austria.

    Jonty JennerImage source, ICC

Jonty Jenner has been a stalwart of the island side since his debut as a 16-year-old.

He left Jersey soon after to join Sussex's academy and was 12th man for England in the first Test against South Africa at Lord's in 2017.

A veteran of all Jersey's previous T20 World Cup qualifying campaigns he can be devastating with the bat and is the island's record run-scorer in T20 matches.

    Charles PerchardImage source, ICC

Jersey skipper Charles Perchard, affectionately known as 'Chuggy', is the island's leading wicket-taker.

His medium pace is accurate and consistent with 48 wickets in 32 T20 internationals, including figures of 2-22 in Jersey's opening game on Thursday.

The 31-year-old can also bat a bit - he averages just under 14 runs when called upon at the bottom of the order in T20 matches.

  4. 300 up for Richie Berringtonpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 21 July 2023

    Scotland v Jersey (15:30)

What a day for the Scotland skipper. His 300th game for Scotland, at home in the sunshine. Where better?

He was awarded a plaque before the game, surrounded by his family and teammates, and he becomes the first Scot to ever achieve the feat.

Now all he needs to do is have another decent knock and the perfect day will be complete.

They may only have just over 100,000 people on their island (roughly the same population as Falkirk) but Jersey have consistently punched above their weight in global cricket terms.

This is their fourth time in the final qualifying stages for a T20 World Cup - last year they pushed Zimbabwe close on home soil while in 2019 they were one win away from the play-offs.

The entire side are Jersey born and bred and most recently played their first One Day Internationals after reaching the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off.

A fifth-placed finish in the 50-over tournament meant they missed out on joining Scotland in the 2023-27 ICC Cricket World Cup League Two and will play in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League over the next four years.

  7. Jersey win the toss and decide to bowlpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 21 July 2023

    Scotland v Jersey (15:30 BST)

Good afternoon and welcome to Scotland’s second match in the 2023 T20 World Cup European Regional Finals.

The site is The Grange Cricket Club, the scene is serene. The sun is coming through the clouds and there’s a pleasant breeze keeping the players nice and cool.

Scotland eased to victory against Germany yesterday - and I mean eased. 234 is their second highest total ever, and in the eleven overs they were able to bowl they skittles Germany to 65/7.

Almost a perfect start, aside from the rain - which caused Scotland to lose nine overs. No such worries today, hopefully.
