If there's a man you want in this situation, it's Sam Hain. With his record in county cricket. Sometimes criticised for batting too slow, but he's the kind of player you want coming in.

It's been a tough 25 balls for the team in yellow, it's a good toss won by the Brave. A really good powerplay for the Brave.
Lovely shot! Sam Hain is the new batter and skips down the pitch to Craig Overton to slap the last ball of the powerplay for four.
Trent Rockets need plenty more of that because it has been over Southern Brave so far.

With all three dismissals, all the deliveries have been full and the batters trying to play across the line.

I think sometimes when you have a target boundary that you aim for, it can be your downfall. It's a nice catch from James Vince. 25-3, this is the perfect start for the Brave.
Malan c Vince b C Overton 11 (Rockets 25-3)
Another huge wicket for Southern Brave!
Dawid Malan was getting bogged down, tried to hit his way out of trouble and took a wild swipe at Craig Overton.
The ball goes straight up and James Vince gets underneath it to take the catch. What a start for the Brave!

One thing I actually really like about The Hundred is how quick the third umpires are at making decisions. When it's comfortable like that one was, just get on with it.
Run out chance, a direct hit but Colin Munro just makes his ground!
This has been a brilliant start from Southern Brave. They're really applying the pressure to Trent Rockets early.
Five balls left in the powerplay.

It's one of the reasons why the Brave bowl first, to swing the bowl and catch the Rockets early. It's never the sight you want as a batter, those zinging stumps and bails.
This is a really good start for the Brave.
Kohler-Cadmore b Garton 4 (Rockets 23-2)
Bowled 'im!
Swing for George Garton and the ball is straight through Tom Kohler-Cadmore's defences.
Not that the batter was offering much defence, he was trying to heave the ball away, missed and saw his middle stump pegged back.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore is the new batter and gets off the mark with a boundary, slashing George Garton to the fence.
That wicket doesn't look like slowing the Rockets down too much.

If you allow a batter to get in at this venue on this pitch, the ball is going to go to all parts of the ground.

We talk about that leg side boundary for Hales. For me, it looked like he tried to get that much squarer.
Hales c Du Plooy b C Overton 9 (Rockets 19-1)
Gone next ball!
Alex Hales tries to chip the ball into the leg side but doesn't get the distance and picks out Leus du Plooy.
A simple catch and a big wicket for Southern Brave!

You've got two world class players at the top of the order here and Craig Overton has got his work cut out.
And again!
Alex Hales gets after Craig Overton for the second ball in a row - the England batter is start to tick now.
Hales 5, Malan 10
Alex Hales is up and running now, nailing the ball through the covers for four!
Lovely shot.
Swing and a miss from Alex Hales to end George Garton's five.
Solid enough start, neither side will be too disappointed at this stage.

Dawid Malan is one of those batters who makes it look so easy. There's a little bit of swing there for Garton.
