Sam Hain played very, very well. He paced his innings brilliantly, I think he will be a big name in the competition this year. He's someone who has always scored a lot of runs, some of the shots he played today, especially the ramp, were really good.

The Brave's three early wickets in the powerplay set the tone and the Trent Rockets struggled to get the tone going.

Out of the fireworks and smoke emerge Brave openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway.

There were moments of brilliance from Southern Brave in the field, including this superb stop by George Garton that Tymal Mills helpfully commentated on for us on player mic.

There are players around the world that wouldn't know to do what Jordan did pulling the stump out. At his age, he's showing no signs of slowing up and is continuing to learn new skills.

You look at this Brave attack, it's full of international quality. Mills and Jordan finishing off an innings. The Brave look like they've got all their bowlers back from last year. It's a bowling attack that we are going to be talking about throughout this tournament. A brilliant bowling performance.

Chris Jordan is brilliant, particularly at the back end. I think his game has gone up, he knows what he's doing. I'm not surprised he got 3-18 off 20 balls.

You can see Chris Jordan has got a plan, got clarity and to go with it, his execution has been spot on.

They are just showing Chris Jordan's last set of five again on the television. He's just so good at the death.

  10. 'The partnerships are key'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

Trent Rockets batter Sam Hain after his knock of 63: "It gives ourselves a chance, I don't think the wicket is as flat as it usually is. We will give it a good crack."

What are your plans to chase this down?: "Hopefully, I'm not the one bowling. It's trying to hit the top of off as much as possible, make them do things they don't want to."

His best shots?: "There's one that almost hits me in the face, I'm just glad I got a couple to come off the middle. The partnerships are key in this format, hopefully that will be enough."

How have you found your first game for the Trent Rockets?: "Obviously I've had a couple of years not playing, a fresh bunch of lads, I was hoping to play. You've got to be ready. I had to tell the lads that this my third team in three years but I'm pleased to be here."

A decent fist of it from the Rockets after they slipped to 55-4.

It's largely down to Sam Hain, who played brilliantly for his 63.

Here are some of his best shots.

    Thanks, Sam.

From the position they were in Trent Rockets will probably be satisfied up with that total. However, it's still well below par.

The average first innings total at Trent Bridge in The Hundred is 147 and that climbs up to 173 for average winning score.

Chris Jordan halted the late Trent Rockets momentum in that rather hectic final five balls, but Sam Hain's superb knock has given the hosts a fighting chance.

To see whether Southern Brave - winners in 2021 - can start the competition with a win, it's over to Timothy Abraham for the chase...

I think if the Brave come out and strike that first 25 without too much damage, they are clear favourites for me.

  16. Rockets 133-8published at 100 balls

No hat-trick for Chris Jordan as the ball whistles past off stump! They run a bye so Southern Brave need 134 to win.

90mph there from CJ, not a bad option from Wasim but the execution did not match.

  20. wicket

Full, straight and he's bowled him!

The Pakistan all-rounder goes across his stumps, tries a reverse but misses and the ball makes a mess of his stumps.
