  1. Brave 56-3published at 45 balls left

A mate of mine, Gareth, has played club cricket with Matthew Carter in Lincolnshire and assures me he is "quite the character".

The spinner gets through a tidy set of five costing five runs.

Trent Rockets will be happy with how they are going here.

Southern Brave have still got to be positive and that doesn't have to be hitting fours and sixes every ball.

You can be positive by hitting the fielders hard and with your running.

But Imad Wasim is a tricky bowler and he's not ideal to face when you've just come in, because he mixes it up so much and keeps you guessing.

  4. Brave 51-3published at 50 balls

Halfway there and 83 needed off 50 balls.

    Matt Carter is back.

What a bowling change this has been.

It's not the easiest pitch to bat on, especially as he was trying to force it straight down the ground.

Finn Allen played a lot of shots but not many came off. It's not been his night tonight.

    Allen c Hales b Imad Wasim 28 (Brave 51-3)

Finn Allen hits a filthy bottom handed slog off Imad Wasim in the direction of long-on and immediately bellows "no!" before looking to the skies.

Alex Hales pouches the catch and Brave are looking a little more nervously at this chase.

Southern Brave are now 60-40 favourites.

James Vince is stumped by Tom Kohler-CadmoreImage source, PA Media

Imad Wasim is a very smart, canny bowler and he has bags of experience.

It looked like he was premeditating James Vince coming down the pitch to him, because he does like to do that early on to the spinners to put them off.

But he doesn't spin the ball much and that one just gripped in the surface.

    Vince st Kohler-Cadmore b Imad Wasim 3 (Brave 44-2)

It's not Luke Wood, but the left-arm spin of Imad Wasim which has got rid of the dangerous James Vince!

The Brave skipper dances down the track to the Rockets' spinner, but is outfoxed by a delivery which turns and skids on.

Not a bad start for Rashid Khan's replacement.

James Vince is the big wicket. He loves chasing in white-ball cricket.

Data analysts CricViz have helped us out with some stats for tonight's game and have looked at the best match-ups.

Based on the stats, they say Trent Rockets should definitely get Luke Wood on to bowl to Southern Brave skipper James Vince.

In The Hundred, Wood has only bowled three balls to Vince - and got him out twice without conceding a run.

Impressive stuff from the Rockets man!

That has absolutely flown off the helmet!

Lewis Gregory is a clever bowler, he mixes up his pace really well and just dug that one into the pitch.

    Conway c Wood b Gregory 16 (Brave 41-1)

A leading edge from Devon Conway who, attempting to pull Lewis Gregory, deflects the ball into the helmet and it spoons up for Luke Wood to take a simple catch at point.

The Rockets skipper gets the breakthrough.

That total looks at least 35/40 runs short, going to take a huge effort from Sams, Wood & Wasim to stop an opening night defeat for the defending champions.

Devon Conway is one of those players, you watch him and all of a sudden he's on 30, he just accumulates runs. He's such a good player.

Matt Carter into the attack and Finn Allen slices one skywards to deep point, but the ball drops between to two fielders much to the chagrin of the Rockets' bowler.

Next ball Devon Conway biffs him square for four to rub salt into the wound.

It looks like a tricky pitch to bat on early in the innings.

As the ball gets older, it should get easier for the Brave batters.

Finn Allen has had a big swing at pretty much every ball he's faced.

With the amount of shots he's played, he should be on about 50 by now.

  20. Brave 29-0published at 71 balls left

More left-arm pace from Daniel Sams, fresh from a stint in Major League Cricket with the Texas Super Kings, and he starts with four dot balls to Finn Allen.
