    Oh, no.

    Have Phoenix lost another?

The umpires are taking a look at a run out. Abbey Freeborn has put in a big dive, but is it enough?

Tess Flintoff holds the record for the fastest fifty in the Women's Big Bash League in Australia, from just 16 balls.

The 20-year-old hit six fours and three sixes for Melbourne Stars against Adelaide Strikers in November 2022.

  3. Phoenix 58-4published at 60 balls

Australian Tess Flintoff is the new batter, coming in at a very tricky time for the Phoenix.

Spin is proving crucial for Originals here, taking all four wickets so far, and they are blessed with some very good options and all offering something different.

Ecclestone brings the left-arm, Wellington the leg-spin and Morris the off-spin.

    A Jones lbw b Morris 7 (Phoenix 57-4)

Fi Morris strikes with her first ball!

    And Phoenix's innings is unravelling.

Amy Jones attempts a brave reverse sweep but it's very full from Morris, and clatters into her front leg. Jones thinks about a review, because she is such a key player, but rightly decides it's probably going to be wasted.

  5. Phoenix 57-3published at 55 balls

Well, that's a brave shot first up!

Facing a bowler who's taken two wickets in three balls, Abbey Freeborn ramps her first ball over her shoulder for four!

Phoenix need plenty more of those.

  6. wicket

    Burns c Threlkeld b Ecclestone 0 (Phoenix 52-3)

    Gone! Ecclestone has all three!

Replays show an edge and that's a sharp catch from Ellie Threlkeld, who was absolutely adamant.

Phoenix sink into more and more trouble.

  7. Originals reviewpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

    Has she got three?!

Keeper Ellie Threlkeld is absolutely convinced that Erin Burns has edged one behind.

Ecclestone didn't appeal at all, didn't even bother turning round to the umpire - but Threlkeld convinces her to take a look...

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 51 balls

    Devine c Morris b Ecclestone 27 (Phoenix 52-2)

Well, Devine goes for it... but not hard enough! Caught on the boundary and Ecclestone has her second!

That was scoreboard pressure doing the damage for Devine there, as the innings was going absolutely nowhere.

She attempted a slog sweep but couldn't get enough on it, and Fi Morris takes a smart catch at square leg.

  9. Phoenix 52-1published at 50 balls

Amanda-Jade Wellington shows exactly why she is one of the most sought-after signings in The Hundred.

She gives absolutely nothing away, and has conceded just nine runs from her 10 balls so far.

Surely one of the Phoenix batters has to start going for it soon?!

  10. Phoenix 49-1published at 45 balls

England wicketkeeper Amy Jones is in at three, and announces herself immediately by smashing Katie George straight back over her head for four.

    Nailed.

Guy: Great to be back at Old Trafford for the Hundred and the women's team finally get on the park. Really like what I've seen of Mahika Gaur so far. Classic action, good pace. Was about to say this looks tricky to score before Sophie Devine hit a big 6!

  12. How's stat?!published at 15:28 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

One key battle in today's fixture will be between the Sophies.

In T20s, there's a good match-up between the world's best bowler Sophie Ecclestone and Phoenix's big-hitting opener Sophie Devine.

    Here's the head-to-head: 14 innings, 54 runs, 56 balls, 3 dismissals.

  13. Phoenix 39-1published at 40 balls

Five balls, one run, one wicket.

Sophie Ecclestone showing just why she is the best in the world, and it's not getting any easier for the Phoenix.

The class in bowling just keeps coming from the Originals.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38 balls

    E Jones st Threlkeld b Ecclestone 18 (Phoenix 39-1)

And it doesn't take her long to make an impact!

Flight, and a hint of turn from Ecclestone deceives Eve Jones, who was on the move down the pitch and has to depart for a scratchy 18.

Ellie Threlkeld does the rest behind the stumps and Originals have started brilliantly.

  15. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

And there's the biggest cheer of the day so far, as Originals captain and world number one bowler Sophie Ecclestone comes on for the first time.

  16. How's stat?!published at 15:24 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

Manchester Originals leg-spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington was leading wicket-taker in The Hundred last year, taking 17 wickets for Southern Brave, at least six more than anyone else.

The Originals team also includes 2022's leading run-scorer Laura Wolvaardt, who hit 286 runs for Northern Superchargers.

  17. Phoenix 38-0published at 35 balls

Originals have got a really exciting bowling attack this year, as Amanda-Jade Wellington (who has moved from Southern Brave) is introduced with her leg-spin.

But she's greeted by some lovely timing from Eve Jones, lofting one down the ground for her first four.

  18. Phoenix 32-0published at 30 balls

Brave call from Sophie Ecclestone - bowling Mahika Gaur another five, but it pays off.

The 17-year-old hasn't taken a wicket but has expertly kept the batters quiet - just 18 runs coming from her 20 balls.

  19. How's stat?published at 15:21 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

Sophie Devine averaged 17.16 with the bat in the 2022 Hundred but scored quickly, hitting 17 boundaries, including three sixes.

  20. 6 runs

    Phoenix 25-0published at 25 balls

Well, that's one way to get the first boundary!

Sophie Devine launches one into the stands off Kathryn Bryce.

She goes for another next ball but slogs it up into the air instead, but fortunately for Devine it lands safely.

A very good powerplay from the Originals bowlers, but is that six what Phoenix needed to get them going?
