"A seed", as described by Jofra Archer.
But pretty good signs for Moeen Ali the bowler.
Brave win by four wickets to go second in the table
Garton hits vital 28 off 18 on tricky pitch
Phoenix post 119-8
Duckett hits 27 & Livingstone adds 25
Ahmed & Mills take three wickets each

"A seed", as described by Jofra Archer.
But pretty good signs for Moeen Ali the bowler.
A cautious approach from Dan Mousley and Liam Livingstone as they begin Phoenix's rebuild.
Cautious is not a word you often associate with Livingstone, but Phoenix will be hopeful if he can set himself up for a big finish.

England fast bowler on BBC Two
I don't think Moeen will mind. Unfortunate to get out, but he knows what he has to do when he bowls.
It was a seed. That ball is going to get many a left-hander out.
At the halfway stage, Southern Brave are in complete control.
The spinners have done most of the damage but it was the pace of Tymal Mills that got the first breakthrough.

Former England bowler on BBC Two
That is a massive wicket. Moeen Ali falls to spin.
Moeen b Ackermann 1 (Phoenix 56-4)
Birmingham Phoenix are in all sorts of trouble!
We predicted that the spinners would have a big part to play and it's proving that way.
Full, straight, a hint of turn and Moeen plays all around it.
This is going to be tricky.
James Anderson
England bowler on BBC Two
Really well bowled. It's the googly, it pitches outside leg and Ben Duckett misses with the ramp shot.
Rehan Ahmed's googly does usually spin quite a bit more than his leggie.
Duckett b Ahmed 27 (Phoenix 55-3)
Rehan Ahmed has another!
Just saying how good Ben Duckett is at sweeping, but he gets this one wrong.
But, there's plenty of turn out there from the spinner - as we were expecting after the women's game earlier.
Duckett departs for 27 from 17 balls.
In fairness, Duckett is normally very good at playing those shots.
Ben Duckett tries to scoop Rehan Ahmed but can only edge it straight into his helmet.
The leg spinner is bowling confidently here, having been called up to England's white-ball squads earlier today.
James Anderson
England bowler on BBC Two
That's pretty adjacent. Well bowled by Rehan Ahmed. A little bit of spin and Jamie Smith is playing across the line with the sweep shot.
There's plenty of turn and grip for the slower balls from the seamers.
Smith lbw b Ahmed 2 (Phoenix 48-2)
The spin gets another breakthrough!
Jamie Smith tries to play across the line but is trapped in front by the leg spin of Rehan Ahmed.
Smith has a chat with Ben Duckett about a review, and gives us a bit of a giggle as he's wearing the helmet cam - and he's considerably taller than his batting partner.
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Two
Sometimes you've got to be brave and when you see it's spinning, leave a slip in.
First introduction of spin, as Colin Ackermann comes on in his first outing for Brave.
And he draws the edge from Ben Duckett! But there's no slip, and it flies away for four.
Jamie Smith is in at three.
A big blow to lose Will Smeed just as he was getting going but it's still a solid powerplay from the Phoenix.
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Two
That is a good take, Du Plooy would have been looking right into the sun. That would've been really tricky
A big top-edge from Smeed, it's a bit of a two-paced pitch here at the Ageas Bowl.
Smeed c Du Plooy b Mills 23 (Phoenix 40-1)
The drop doesn't cost the Southern Brave too much!
Will Smeed crashes one for four but Tymal Mills responds with the next, drawing a false shot from a short ball that flies down to deep square where Leus du Plooy makes no mistake.
Still, an important innings from Smeed to get Phoenix off to a flyer. He goes for 23 from 14 balls.
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Two
That went up a mile!
Smeed gave it the kitchen sink, big top-edge and the fielder just misjudged. Smeed might make him pay.
Phoenix 35-0
Big moment!
A wild swipe from Will Smeed flies out to Tim David on the boundary, but he can't cling on after having to dive forward.
It seems like he may have just struggled to judge it with the sun shining, as the ball went so high in the air.
