  1. Afg 76-3published at 16 overs

Azmatullah Omarzai and Hashmatullah Shahidi show some good running as Shardul Thakur's latest over goes for six. Not easy in that heat I'm sure.

There's a change of bowling at the other end as Kuldeep Yadav. comes into the attack for the first time.

Here is the second wicket to fall as Rahmanullah Gurbaz is dismissed thanks to this really smart take from Shardul Thakur on the rope.

  3. Afg 70-3published at 15 overs

Good running from Afghanistan as a straight push from Hashmatullah Shahidi dissects the mid-on and mid-off fielders and they can run two.

That flurry of wickets has seen Afghanistan's run rate dip below five.

  4. Afg 66-3published at 14 overs

Hashmatullah Shahidi is the new batter and gets off the mark with a very fortunate thick inside that very nearly clatters into his own stumps, but instead flies down to fine leg and Afghanistan run two.

Afghanistan can be good for five or 10 overs and then lose the plot completely. Why would they do that on a featherbed like this? It is about building partnerships.

It looked more out in real-time than that.

    Shah lbw b Thakur 16 (Afg 63-3)

Ohh, Hawk-eye shows it would go on to clip the top of leg stump for umpires call!

Afghanistan retain their review but I don't think that is much consolation as Rahmat Shah trudges off.

    It looked dead to me.

It's important to be on the front foot but then you need to use the bat.

It is an important wicket so it is worth taking the chance.

  10. Afghanistan reviewpublished at 13.1 overs

This could be a big moment.

Shardul Thakur traps Rahmat Shah bang in front, but the Afghanistan batter sends it upstairs.

It looked pretty straight from here.

Hardik Pandya gives India a balance to their side. He's not your military medium pacer either, he's got some pace about him.

  12. Afg 63-2published at 13 overs

Hashmatullah Shahidi is the new batter as Afghanistan face a bit of a rebuilding job.

Very good catch, and presence of mind.

Hardik Pandya can surprise people with his bouncer.

That is an important wicket because he gives stability to the Afghanistan batting line-up. They will have to keep their head.

  15. wicket

    Gurbaz c Thakur b Hardik 21 (Afg 63-2)

    Brilliant catch.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz pulls towards the square leg boundary where Shardul Thakur takes the catch before releasing the ball as he steps over the rope, jumping back into play and then pouching the ball once more.

I am a little bit interested that India have opted to play Shardul Thakur over Mohammed Shami.

Shami has expertise with the ball, while Thakur is more of an all-rounder.

Thakur does hit a length but he doesn't have much pace so he can be lined up.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit the first six of the match with this lovely shot off the bowling of Shardul Thakur.

  18. Afg 58-1published at 12 overs

Shardul Thakur bowls a beamer as the ball slips out of his hands and forces Rahmat Shah into evasive action.

The next ball is a free hit, until Thakur bowls a wide. The next ball - still a free hit - is straighter and Afghanistan scramble a single.

A slightly messy over in the end.

Rahmat Shah is Mr Dependable for Afghanistan.

  20. Afg 55-1published at 11.4 overs

Have to confess I am stumped on that one, Tony. Afghanistan do not seem too concerned though.

Rahmat Shah adds another four to his tally with a wonderfully controlled pull shot through square leg for four.
