Quinton de Kock has joined AB de Villiers in making successive centuries to start a World Cup. They are the only two players to do it.

Other players have made successive centuries in a World Cup, but never to start a World Cup.

De Villiers did it in the 2011 World Cup, also in India.

South Africa continue to milk Adam Zampa for singles.

Five sixes in Quinton de Kock's century, off 90 balls. Here's two of them from a little earlier.

De Kock hits second World Cup centurypublished at 29.5 overs

Quinton de Kock backs up the hundred he scored in the first match against Sri Lanka with another against Australia and he brings it up a style with a six off Australian captain Pat Cummins.

It's short from Cummins and De Kock emphatically hauls it over the head of mid-wicket.

He has 19 in all ODIs for South Africa.

    A man in form.

That is a big miss, or potentially. Those return catches can be the hardest to take, but I'm sorry, I suspect that is taken nine times out of 10.

  5. dropped catch

Markram dropped on onepublished at 29.3 overs

Deary me. Pat Cummins has dropped a sitter off his own bowling.

It's a rank full toss from the Aussie skipper and Aiden Markram spoons it back to him without any real power.

Cummins just fumbles a simple return take.

  6. SA 161-2published at 29 overs

Aiden Markram is the new batter for South Africa. Owner of the fastest World Cup century - 49 balls - after his blitz against Sri Lanka in their opening game.

Markram is a little fortunate an inside edge which just scoots past his stumps to get off the mark.

I actually think that isn't such a bad thing for South Africa.

They've now got the players coming in that can put their foot down.

Van der Dussen c sub (Abbott) b Zampa 26 (SA 158-2)

Adam Zampa gets the breakthrough for Australia!

Rassie van der Dussen advances down the pitch and attempts to heave the Aussie leg-spinner over long up but the boundaries at Lucknow are quite sizable and he's unable to get the distance needed.

Substitute fielder Sean Abbott is on hand to take the catch just inside the rope.

Mitchell Starc responds to that early boundary in the over with some disciplined lines

The Aussie left-arm paceman has a pensive expression. All those cogs whirring in his brain of what to bowl to who, and when.

Here's the one wicket to fall today when South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma, who looked a little out of sorts again, fell to Glenn Maxwell.

Rassie van der Dussen. meanwhile, is looking in fine fettle as booms a drive on the up off Mitchell Starc through the covers.

What a set up this is from South Africa.

  13. SA 150-1published at 27 overs

Quinton de Kock clips a full toss from Adam Zampa down the ground for a single to move on to 90.

Rassie van der Dussen shuffles those green boots of his down the pitch and heaves Zampa's fourth ball across the line for four. He did not really get hold of it, but there's enough for it cross the boundary.

I'm glad to see Mitchell Starc coming back on. He is the one bowler in this side that can do things a little differently.

  15. SA 142-1published at 26 overs

Mitchell Starc, that familiar loping run up of his, goes full to Rassie van der Dussen but the South Africa batter digs it out.

A couple of istonic drinks are brought on for the two South Africa batters to gulp down between overs as the shadows start to lengthen.

That was an aesthetically pleasing shot from Quinton de Kock. He doesn't go searching for it. He just times it perfectly back down the ground. He's able to select the balls he wants to attack, he's given himself that platform.

  17. SA 141-1published at 25.2 overs

The majority of the crowd at the ground in Lucknow are sat in the shaded parts.

Mitchell Starc back into the attack but Quinton de Kock beautifully punches him down the ground for four. He held the pose after that shot. Delicious.

  18. SA 136-1published at 25 overs

Those two sixes off Josh Hazlewood sees him whipped out of the attack and Adam Zampa brought back.

Zampa has undergone a bit of transformation from when I last saw him. Clean shaven, sensible haircut and I think the earrings have gone as well. He is 31, mind. We all have to grow up some time, eh?

The leg-spinner is bowling a bit more conservatively, too. Once again South Africa's batters happy to nudge him into the gaps. Five singles from the over.

The Mitchell Starc case is a curious one, we've only seen him bowl three overs with the new ball so far.

  20. SA 131-1published at 24 overs

South Africa happy to plonk and poke Glenn Maxwell around rather go after him for the time being as they milk five runs from the spinner's latest over.

They are big boundaries in Lucknow.
