jambarrell: Why would Bavuma withdraw an appeal? Cummins never does that!
And why is Labuschagne batting at number 4 as an anchor? A very strange line up from Australia, this!

Starc c De Kock b Jansen 27 (Aus 139-7)
Mitchell Starc's vigil ends.
It's a rasping delivery from Marco Jansen which climbed off the pitch and Starcs fends it to South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock.
Prior to the start of the 2023 World Cup, Marnus Labuschagne averaged just 10.66 in ODI cricket against left-arm pace. A good call to bring Marco Jansen back into the attack.
Mitchell Starc hacks at a freebie down the leg side from Keshav Maharaj but it's a fresh air shot and he misses out on the chance to find the boundary.
Four runs off the over.

Chris R: Seems it isn't just the Premier League that is struggling to correctly implement a virtual review system...

It's the duck pull, the look away pull, the Mitchell Starc pull and he nails it for four!
Left-arm seamer Marco Jansen into the attack and his third ball is banged in short. Mitchell Starc with no-look pull through deep square for four as he swivels on his heels. A bit of close your eyes and heave across the line about that

On the basis that sound travels slower than light, the spike shown for the Stoinis dismissal was in fact the ball hitting the bat handle...ahem.
Jim, Haworth
Michell Starc attempts to mow one across the line in a rare sign of intent against Keshav Maharaj, but finds the fielder out at deep square leg so has to settle for a single.
Three runs off the over.
In case you missed it... There was a bit of controversy earlier on.
Thanks, Sam.
The players are having a drink. These next 20 overs are going to be the epitome of going through the motions.
Target 312
Finally, some positive intent from Australia as Marnus Labuschagne takes Tabraiz Shamsi for back-to-back boundaries.
The first a well-timed reverse sweep and the next a firm push through the covers.
With this innings starting to come to the boil - maybe... - I'll hand you over to Timothy Abraham. He's champing at the bit to get going.

If anything it's condemning it. This is not what this format is supposed to be about.

Watching this now is not saving 50-over cricket.

The partnership is up to 45 but it's not exactly one that is going to inspire the next generation.

I think it's important for Australia to show some degree of intent. Not just knock it around for two or three an over. Especially when you are trying to generate some momentum for the rest of the tournament. It's all ending in a bit of a whimper.

Australia are not really trying anything. Not trying to move things along at all. It is difficult when you see all the wickets falling - what can you do? This is an embarrassing end if they just block it out.
Target 312
Australia plod onwards, doing what they have to do to protect their net run-rate as much as possible.
That, and perhaps irritating/ boring South Africa by keeping them out there, is about all they look to be trying to achieve at the moment.
I'd agree you'd be hard pushed to say they've changed the game, Louis.
But the Marcus Stoinis wicket, in particular, was definitely controversial.

I can't be the only one thinking that the controversies don't take anything away from the fact that Australia have played diabolically throughout both innings.
