Steve Smith looks very confused as he walks off. Absolutely dumbfounded. Joel Wilson looks as confused as everyone else.

Eh! When we saw the front on image it looked like it was going comfortably down the leg side.
But the technology shows three reds and Steve Smith is out!
Normally we see the technology and animation play out, with the impact on Steve Smith, then whether it is in line and then whether it is hitting the stumps. We don't see that on this occassion.
We just see the final image which shows the three reds and sends Smith back to the changing room.
Confusion reigns.

It's going down leg side and quite a bit. It's surprising how far his bat is away from the ball.
Steve Smith hits back-to-back boundaries before Kagiso Rabada hits him on the pad.
Rabada and Quinton de Kock share a quick nod, before Temba Bavuma sends it upstairs.

I feel fortunate to watch three greats of world cricket at the same time and in the same tournament - Smith, Root and Kohli.

Target 312
Five runs and a leg bye off Lungi Ngidi's fifth over. He's helped by a superb stop by a sprawling Marco Jansen at fine leg.
We're going to see the first change as Kagiso Rabada replaces Jansen at the other. Can he keep up the pressure?
Here's the wicket of David Warner.
Enjoy.

That's a good position from Steve Smith who gets deep in the crease to Marco Jansen and goes a long way across his stumps to play that shot. After losing David Warner it's a good momentum shift. It's a different prospect playing Lungi Ngidi at the moment, though.
Target 312
Lovely from Steve Smith, who you fancy has to make a big score for Australia to get close to this total.
He picks up four through mid-wicket with a beautiful flick. His balance was sublime there.
He then capitalises on an extra ball for a wide, pulling to the square-leg boundary.
Here's how Marco Jansen dismissed Mitchell Marsh for the initial breakthrough.

It was a cut shot David Warner just didn't nail. It looks to be inconsistent off the surface but Lungi Ngidi has used the cross seamers and cutters well early in the Australian innings. Warner just splices it and ballons it up. Disappointment for him.

Australia now are really in big trouble.
Warner c Van der Dussen b Ngidi 13 (Aus 27-2)
The pressure tells!
Five dot balls from Lungi Ngidi, to follow the maiden in his previous over, and David Warner takes on the cut.
He can't keep it down though, and it is caught at Rassie van der Dussen at point.
Warner goes for 13 off 27 balls and Ngidi has 1-4 off four overs.

The ball has been swinging around a little bit more than it did for the Australia bowlers. It's been a disciplined start by the South Africa bowlers and especially Lungi Ngidi, who has a remarkable analysis after four overs.

Much better line and length from Marco Jansen to get South Africa's first wicket. It was a tricky length to hit on this pitch, seam up which held in the track slightly. Mitch Marsh was looking to pressure back on the bowler and it loops to Temba Bavuma.
Target 312
Steve Smith is the new batter.
He defends his first ball into the on side.

The South Africa captain snaffles the man who was temporarily captain of Australia during the warm-up games. It was that booming straight drive again, but Mitch Marsh is on his way.
Marsh c Bavuma b Jansen 7 (Aus 27-1)
Got 'im!
Mitchell Marsh looks to hit Marco Jansen down the ground but doesn't connect cleanly at all.
It skews up and South Africa captain Temba Bavuma settles himself under it at mid-off.
Good comeback from Jansen after a wayward over.

David Warner waited patiently for that ball and it's the first one he's really cashed in on from Marco Jansen. Little moments like that can change the momentum of a game.
