  1. 'A lot of hard work to be done'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 13 October 2023

Back to today's match in Chennai and here's a bit more from Trent Boult...

On learning his knuckle ball: "Two and a half years, it took - very specific! As you round different conditions around the world you're forever trying to learn new skills, new ways to be unpredictable as a bowler. I've been lucky enough to share a changing room with a few guys who can bowl it very well and it's nice to be getting a couple of wickets."

On the pitch: "A very good wicket, I thought. It went a little harder and faster than we're used to here in Chennai, par score 250-odd I expect, so Bangladesh batted very well. A lot of hard work to be done, but hopefully she skids on a bit at night and we get the job done."

There was some handy late hitting led by Mahmudullah and Taskin Ahmed but New Zealand continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals.

Which leaves us with the Black Caps needing 246 to win in Chennai...

The experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim led the recovery for Bangladesh.

Things started going wrong for Bangladesh immediately with Liton Das dismissed first ball of the match by Trent Boult.

There was a brief recovery of sorts to 40-1 before Tanzid Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto fell in quick succession to leave them 56-4.

  7. 'Nice to tick it off'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 13 October 2023

Trent Boult on his 200th ODI wicket: "It was pretty hard not to think about the 200th wicket when it was coming up on the screen every day before the match! It's nice to tick it off and on a bigger note nice to keep Bangladesh to a good total and hopefully we can chase it down.

"It's not why you play the game but nice to tick them off along the way. The one-day format is one I've enjoyed down the years. I feel lucky to be here in a third World Cup and contributing like I do."

Bangladesh batter Mahmudullah made a score of 20 or more for the 13th World Cup innings in a row, breaking Matthew Hayden's record.

  10. New Zealand need 246 to winpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 13 October 2023

The Black Caps need 246 to go back to the top of the table then.

Lockie Ferguson took 3-49 with his fellow quick Trent Boult and Matt Henry claiming two wickets apiece.

It was also another very impressive outing from left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who took 1-31 from his 10 overs.

It's been a good effort by Bangladesh in the end. When they were four down it looked like it could be a quick game of cricket. They've chugged along and 245-9 is a good effort. It probably won't be enough, because it gets easier to bat at this venue. But it gives their bowlers a glimmer. They need wickets in that first powerplay.

  12. Ban 245-9published at 50 overs

A swing and a miss from Shoriful Islam ends the innings and New Zealand will be very happy with their bowling effort.

Bangladesh found themselves in big trouble relatively early and despite a recovery of sorts, they come up just short of the 250 mark.

The Black Caps will be confident of knocking off these runs and making it three wins from three to start this World Cup.

This is not going to be a massive total or Bangladesh, who are taking the old school approach of just batting out the 50 overs. The pitch has not spun as much as the Australia vs India match played in Chennai. There's nothing to unduly concern New Zealand's batters.

  15. Ban 234-9published at 49 overs

Three singles end the Trent Boult over but the good news for Bangladesh is that Mahmudullah will be on strike for the last over of the 50.

  16. 6 runs

    Ban 231-9published at 48.3 overs

On a length from Trent Boult and Mahmudullah climbs into it, launching the ball over the leg side and into the stands.

Six very useful runs for Bangladesh!

A bit of a tennis stroke. A top edge. Tom Latham has a very steady pair of hands and you always thought he would take it. Good bowling from Matt Henry - New Zealand have used the short ball well today.

Attempted pull shot and another top-edge sends the ball straight up.

Matt Henry finishes his spell with his second wicket as Mustafizur Rahman, after hitting over mid-off for two the previous ball, falls to the short ball.

Not for the first time today, Tom Latham gets across quickly from behind the stumps to take another good catch.
