  1. Goodbye

    That's a wrap for us.

You can read Sam Drury's report of New Zealand's victory over Bangladesh here.

No big thing tomorrow, just the small matter of India v Pakistan at the 132,000 seater stadium in Ahmedabad. Expect a quiet one.

That gets underway at 09:30 BST, and we'll be there with commentary and live highlights.

    Have a good evening.

  2. Post update

Williamson would retire hurt on 78, having been rapped on the thumb during an attempted run-out.

Mitchell went onto accelerate alongside Glenn Phillips, bringing up the victory with a six.

  3. Post update

In reply, Bangladesh took the early wicket of Rachin Ravindra, bringing returning New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to the crease.

He put on 80 with Devon Conway, who was ultimately dismissed for 45, before continuing a steady run chase with Daryl Mitchell.

  4. Post update

New Zealand removed the pair in relatively quick succession to leave Bangladesh 175-6, with the lower order working their way to 245 at the close of the innings.

  5. Post update

If you're just getting home from work, you didn't miss a classic but we did see another tidy display from early pace setters New Zealand.

The Kiwis won the toss and, choosing to bowl, dismissed Liton Das first ball. They broke through the Bangladesh top order, leaving them 56-4, before Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim put on 96 for the fifth wicket.

  6. 'I'll have a scan...'

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson on the prognosis of his injured thumb: "Not [sure] just yet. It got a bit fat and colourful straight away which made holding the bat difficult. I'll have a scan tomorrow and hopefully it's okay."

On his knee having returned from an ACL injury: "Secondary to the thumb. It was great to get through from a knee perspective."

  7. 'Bat well and it's a different ball game'

Najmul Hossain Shanto speaking in place of captain Shakib Al Hasan at the presentation: "Shakib's gone for scanning. We'll then know what's happened to him.

"I think we didn't bat well, we didn't start well. Even in the last match we batted poorly, especially the first 10-15 overs, we have to improve there.

"I think we have we have to take responsibility. If we bat the first 10-15 overs carefully then we can be a very good batting side. Bat well and it's a different ball game.

"The wicket looks pretty good. I think a little bit of extra bounce but after the new ball the wicket was good.

"Very impressive - all three fast bowlers. Last match we didn't bowl well with the new ball, but everyone showed their character. If they bowl well in our next matches it can help our team."

    Stephan Shemilt

    BBC Sport chief cricket writer

New Zealand started well in 2019 and just scraped into the knockout stages. It's not how you start these events but how you finish. They look to have all the bases covered. The fact they have beaten England already is a massive bonus for them because to get through to the semi-finals you need to beat two of the 'big six'. The look strong.

  9. Post update

New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson, who was named player of the match: "I think it was a classic team effort from the Black Caps. Everyone bowled well and created pressure throughout. It meant I could come and do my role and fortunately the wicket gave me some assistance today.

"Compared to what we had at Hyderabad this had a litle more bounce so I tested it out earlier with the new ball and if it worked I would stick to it. It was a good all-round performance by the boys today. We play Aghanistan here and hopefully it will be a similar wicket.

"It's early stages for sure but it's nice to have three wins. We are enjoying our time here and the group has been great. There's a long way to go and looking forward to the next match."

  10. The winning moment

Daryl Mitchell doesn't do things by half-measure - here's how he brought up the New Zealand target with a mighty six down the ground.

  11. How's stat?!

    Andy Zaltzman

Cricket statistician on Test Match Special

New Zealand's team batting stats for the tournament so far are 853 runs for 10 wickets going at 6.6 per over. Pretty impressive.

  12. How things stand

New Zealand stand clear at the top of the table with six points as we enter the third round of games.

Bangladesh sit in sixth with one win against Afghanistan and losses today and against England.

  13. How's stat?!

    Andy Zaltzman

Cricket statistician on Test Match Special

It took Daryl Mitchell a while to get going with one boundary off his first 35 balls - the first ball he hit for six. He finished unbeaten 89 off 67 and added another 56 from his last 32 balls.

  14. Post update

    Roushan Alam

Host of The Bangla Cricket Podcast on BBC Test Match Special

The fact that they have made New Zealand stretch to 43rd over to chase this down is a positive for Bangladesh. A few more early wickets when Bangladesh bowled so well and it might have been different. You have to credit New Zealand's professionalism.

    BBC Test Match Special commentator

What a shot from Daryl Mitchell to win this game. A very convincing win for a team who look hot favourites to go all the way.

  16. New Zealand win by eight wickets

Daryl Mitchell brought up his fifty with a six and he's finished the game the same way!

Shoriful does well to hold this pair to a couple of singles from his first four balls, Phillips almost chopping onto his own stumps, but Mitchell didn't want to hang about - he leans back and sends the ball clear over the boundary at mid off.

A comfortable victory for New Zealand, and they're now three wins from three.

  17. NZ 240-2

Six runs needed from 48 balls

    A first six for Phillips!

He drops to a knee and smacks the ball over deep square.

New Zealand are six runs away.

  18. Dropped catch

    NZ 233-2

    Maybe should have been taken?

Phillips skews the ball up in the air and Taskin chases the catch from mid-on, his hands stretched in front of him. He doesn't get close enough and the ball skims past the tips of his fingers.

Mitchell punishes the error by dropping back in his crease and clouting Mehidy through the covers.

  19. NZ 227-2

19 runs needed from 54 balls

Mustafizur reaches the top of his mark and Daryl Mitchell sets himself. He turns his head towards the ground momentarily and the sweat runs in a steady flow off the rim of his helmet.

It's half nine in the evening in Chennai and BBC Weather says it's 28 degrees with 85% humidity.

Six runs off the over, five of them off the bat. Unpleasant weather for jogging through, and Mitchell has the physios on for cramp at the change of ends.

  20. NZ 221-2

We're moving rapidly towards a conclusion here.

Four straight away from Mitchell, clipping Taskin away for four through square leg.

He then sends another down the ground, standing tall and straight in his crease. Taskin flings a hand out but the ball is long gone.

Glenn Phillips gets his first boundary off the final ball of the over, fending off a short ball and seeing it run to the fence at fine leg.
