This will dent Pakistan's confidence big time. Even today, I wouldn't say they played badly.

They were in control after 30 overs but after that, they had no clue how to bat against Kuldeep, Bumrah was outstanding.

This will really damage Pakistan's confidence because they've got massive games coming up. But this will only be their first loss.

This is the sort of result that, because they play each other so infrequently, could be talked about for years.

It's about as emphatic as they come.

Shreyas Iyer comes down the wicket, hits it for four, gets his fifty and with that India have won.

The India batsmen have dominated this batting innings. Pakistan will be sorely disappointed as the fireworks start here.

A single from KL Rahul to get Shreyas Iyer back on strike.

He brings up his half-century, and seals victory, by biffing Mohammad Nawaz down the ground for four.

    The crowd erupts in celebration.

Pakistan have been thrashed by India.

In the context of the opposition, this is a huge win for India.

Shreyas Iyer with a single off Mohammad Nawaz.

He'll be fuming if KL Rahul hits this for six.

  7. Ind 186-3published at 30 overs

KL Rahul happy to see out the rest of the over. Shreyas Iyer can potentially hit the winning runs, and bring up his half-century in one blow here.

That was four runs from the moment it left the bat. Terrific shot from KL Rahul.

  9. Ind 186-3published at 29.2 overs

There's four of them as KL Rahul thumps Hasan Ali down the ground.

    Six required for India.

India are that comfortable a section of the crowd is more interested trying to get a paper aeroplane to reach the outfield.

That rather sums up Pakistan's day. India are nearly there.

    That was hopeless from Iftikhar.

  12. In 182-3published at 29 overs

A fumble on the boundary by Iftikhar Ahmed gives KL Rahul his first boundary of his innings after he hits Mohammad Nawaz's second ball straight down the ground.

India need 10 more runs to wrap this up. Can they finish with a flourish?

  13. Ind 176-3published at 28 overs

Haris Rauf is milked for singles by Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul as India produce a business-like finish to this game.

India have another 132 balls to get this.

I know the relationship between the two sets of players is good but perhaps they want to make Pakistan's player suffer a little bit longer?

  14. Ind 170-3published at 27 overs

On we go as India meander and take the scenic route towards the finish line.

A couple of singles off Mohammad Nawaz's seventh over.

There's a hint of interest from Mohammad Rizwan from Nawaz's final delivery after a swipe from Shreyas Iyer, but again no contact made.

Very close to the outside edge, nearly the perfect delivery from Haris Rauf but there's nothing on UltraEdge.

  16. Ind 168-3published at 26 overs

Haris Rauf is brought back into the attack but he is unable to shake up India's batters.

The final ball of the over beats the outside edge of KL Rahul's defensive poke, prompting a bit of interest from Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps but there's not hint of referring it.

I'm not sure they'll even need net run-rate to finish top of the group.

Although we are making some assumptions there.

  18. Ind 165-3published at 25 overs

Safety first for these two India batters appears to be the order of the day. We haven't had a boundary for five overs now.

Three singles off Mohammad Nawaz's sixth over as Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul continue to knock it down the ground.

At this rate, I don't think India are going to need that enhanced net run-rate. I expect them to go through to that final four and do so handsomely but a good net run-rate always helps.

  20. In 162-3published at 24 overs

Shaheen Afridi is bustling in round the wicket to KL Rahul, but it's all relatively unthreatening as India pick up just a single off the over.

Shreyas Iyer shadow bats at the non-striker's end. He's viewing this as a bit of net now, perhaps.

The crowd have quietened down now that the fireworks have stopped. If ever there was a ground when you might need an early dart to beat the traffic...
