Piemontemio: Rashid has changed the direction of the Afghanistan innings, and wrested some control back. But Afghanistan will have noted lack of pace has been effective - and they have a Rashid of their own..

Afghanistan had a good over against Chris Woakes previously, but I am not sure what Azmatullah Omarzai was trying to do there. He was building a partnership with his team-mate and then just got bored.

    England strike!

Just three runs had come from the over and Azmatullah Omarzai looked to end the over by going big, straight down the ground and almost got enough of it.

The shot needed a bit more club, though, and the catch is swallowed by Chris Woakes. It is an important catch for him after the previous over.

Joe Root is about to have a bowl next.

Two wickets in two balls really changed this match, with the second seeing Gurbaz run out on 80 when he was very well set.

  5. Afg 149-3published at 25 overs

At the halfway point, Afghanistan are virtually at sixes, two good boundaries come from that over, almost 10 overs after not scoring any.

They would have taken this, you would suspect, before a ball was bowled, but the first 25 overs have had a few twists and turns.

  6. Afg 149-3published at 24.4 overs

Four this time from Azmatullah Omarzai, almost stopped by some good work in the field Harry Brook.

Chris Woakes' attempt of the wider ball is crunched to the left of Brook at deep cover point, who was unable to keep it out.

That is a great shot down the ground. A slower ball from Chris Woakes but Azmatullah Omarzai is straight on to it and deposits it over the boundary.

  8. 6 runs

    Afg 145-3published at 24.2 overs

It takes 55 balls, but Afghanistan get their boundary and it is six.

Down the ground from Azmatullah Omarzai and it flies for a massive six, a brilliant strike.

Chris Woakes' return to the attack has not gone to plan...

  9. Afg 139-3published at 24 overs

Another tidy over from Liam Livingstone, who very nearly picked himself up a wicket.

Four runs come from the over, but for Afghanistan, their wait for a boundary continues to grow and grow.

53 balls and counting since they last found the rope...

In line, but that delivery was tracked as going just over the top of the stumps, ever so slightly. Delight for Afghanistan.

I think it's going over the stumps, but barely.

Liam Livingstone's delivery hits the pad of Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah and England take it upstairs.

  13. Afg 135-3published at 23 overs

A better over as far as Afghanistan are concerned, no boundaries but they do add eight runs.

They will hope to build on that and regain their earlier pressure.

We needed someone to deliver. It was always gonna be Adil to do so, but now it's time to turn the engine on.

  15. Afg 130-3published at 22.3 overs

A half chance for England and almost another cheap run out. Liam Livingstone, picking up the ball close to the non-striker's end, opts to throw to Jos Buttler and it is quite wide, giving Buttler not a lot of chance to dismiss Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi. Livingstone apologises.

This was the moment of concern for Reece Topley, leading to him leaving the field for a period of time. The good news, he is back in the game.

Two new batters at the crease for Afghanistan, but both of them have experience.

  18. Afg 127-3published at 22 overs

Rashid's previous over is matched by Livingstone at the other end, again going for just two runs.

The run rate was well into the sevens and eights just a few overs ago, but now it is below a run a ball and continuing to decline.

What a knock from Gurbaz. Will likely be the first world class batsman produced by Afghanistan. He will be a huge asset to any T20/Hundred franchise. Big IPL deal incoming.
