It didn't quite carry to Daryl Mitchell at first slip and there is a bit of luck for Rohit Sharma.

  2. Ind 22-0published at 3 overs

Ooooh, half a chance for New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma flashes at wide one from Trent Boult at the end of the over and he edges it to Daryl Mitchell stationed in the region of second slip.

The ball just drops short of Mitchell's hands, squeezes through his legs, and races away for four.

Rohit Sharma will have faced Trent Boult a lot in international cricket and for Mumbai Indians.

There isn't that zip that Boult usually gets at the moment. It looks like quite a nice pace so Rohit's decision at the toss is proving to be a good one.

  4. Ind 18-0published at 2.3 overs

Three singles off Trent Boult's second over

Rohit Sharma looks an imperious presence at the crease. His body language is confident and dominating.

The way this tournament has gone, India will either be all out for 150 or win by 9 wickets inside 30 overs. Either way we'll know who will win inside the first 10 overs.

This is just the start that India wanted. I am surprised that the New Zealand body language seems to have dropped a bit already.

They need their senior players to step up and for Trent Boult and Matt Henry to lead from the front.

My word, that was some shot and I don't even think Rohit Sharma got hold of it!

That will bring the crowd to life.

    Wowzers.

A sighter from Rohit Sharma off Matt Henry and then next ball he shuffles his feet down the pitch and wallops him back over his head and into the stans for six.

Rohit makes it consecutive boundaries as he elegantly works the final delivery of the over from Henry off his ribs down through fine leg for four.

The Indian crowd is quieter than I thought they would be. They must have some early nerves too!

  10. Ind 5-0published at 1.4 overs

Matt Henry hits Shubman Gill on the pad, turns and appeals. A decent shout, but not enough to convince Tom Latham to go for the review.

India pickup a single and Henry then beats the outside edge of Rohit Sharma's bat.

At 40 overs, New Zealand would have wanted a lot more than 273 so they have got to make the most of this new ball.

It doesn't look as if the dew has set in yet so that shouldn't be a factor.

  12. Ind 4-0published at 1 over

Trent Boult follows up that boundary with four dots.

Interestingly, the highest score chasing in ODIs at Dharamsala is 227 so perhaps New Zealand's total will prove trickier than initially thought.

If the outfield grass is as long as it looks on tv, this NZ total is a competitive one. The wicket also seems increasingly of variable pace.

It will be an interesting contest. India's batting is very top heavy and a lot has been made of New Zealand's seamers and how well they have bowled, particularly Matt Henry.

  15. Ind 4-0published at 0.2 overs

Rohit Sharma flicks Trent Boult's second ball off his hip for four.

First runs off the bat for India who have begun nearly all their games like a train so will be interesting to see how they go about this chase.

The temperature has dropped, the lights are on and Trent Boult is going to be crucial.

    Rohit Sharma takes guard.

Left-arm seamer Trent Boult is at the top of his mark with the ball in hand.

Right, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are striding out to the middle.

New Zealand's players are in a little huddle getting a final pep talk from stand-in skipper Tom Latham.

New Zealand had a platform to kick on towards 300 but struggled following the dismissal of Ravindra Rachin for 75.

Daryl Mitchell was able to reach a run-a-ball century - his fifth in ODIs - but the innings largely stagnated as wickets tumbled.

India's seamers, and Mohammed Shami in particular, finished strongly at the death as New Zealand's last seven wickets went down for 68 runs.

If you're just joining us. A quick recap of what's happened so far in Dharamsala.

New Zealand were asked to bat first by India skipper Rohit Sharma and lost the wickets of Devon Conway and Will Young.

But from 19-2 Ravindra Rachin and Daryl Mitchell rebuilt the innings with a stand of 159 for the third wicket.
