You just feel that New Zealand are probably 30 runs shy.
It was the partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell that got them going but without it, New Zealand could have been bowled out very cheaply.
The standout for India was Mohammed Shami. Well bowled, five-for after not playing before in this World Cup. He's come in and made an impact.
New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra: "It took me a while to get into my rhythm and they bowled really well with that new ball up front so it was difficult for us to score.
"But after we saw that off, the partnership was able to flow a bit better between myself and Daryl and we were able to get a decent score on the board.
"We were looking at around 280, knowing that the pitch was keeping a little low and it's not easy to start on but they pegged us back nicely at the death there with the way they bowled. We've got runs on the board so it is what it is.
"There wasn't much turn for the spinners but it was definitely a bit up and down for the pace bowlers so hopefully our boys can make the most of that."
India need 274 for victory, then.

Two wickets in two balls to conclude the innings. New Zealand's 273 is fewer than it should have been.
A brilliant innings from Daryl Mitchell but the wickets tumbling in the final 10 overs.
Ferguson run out (Rahul) 1 (NZ 273 all out)
A big swing of the bat from Trent Boult but he does not make contact and is called through for the single by Lockie Ferguson as he attempts to pinch a single.
Strike! KL Rahul has a future as a ten-pin bowler as he underarms it to the stumps and his direct hit runs out Ferguson.

What a comeback from Shami.
Daryl Mitchell went deep in his crease and if he'd stayed in his crease, it was probably more of a slot delivery. But you can't blame him for getting out at this stage.

A huge roar of delight from Virat Kohli in front of those supporters, who go wild.
Five for Mohammed Shami, what a day and what a return for him.
Mitchell c Kohli b Shami 130 (NZ 273-9)
Daryl Mitchell steps across and makes reasonable contact with a pull over mid-wicket, but cannot get the elevation need as he hits Mohammed Shami straight to hands of Virat Kohli.
Kohli turns to the crowd and beats his chest. Shami has a five-for.
Short ball from Mohammed Shami which Daryl Mitchell pulls to the fielder. Once again he turns down the single.
Mohammed Shami goes wide this time and Daryl Mitchell picks up the length, well out of his crease, and drives it through the covers for four on the up.

That's exactly what New Zealand wanted.

Classic Daryl Mitchell and he holds the pose.
Daryl Mitchell drives Mohammed Shami down the ground, but he turns down the single.
Next ball it's a full toss from Shami and Mitchell booms it back over his head for six.
Four balls left.

I'm going to say something outrageous: has this been a good knock from Mitchell? Or could it have been better?
He's not been going quickly or has it been that he's not been able to go quickly? When he would have looked to accelerate, New Zealand lost wickets, which won't have helped.
Miserly from Jasprit Bumrah with just three runs conceded as Lockie Ferguson is unable to get anything off the final two balls of his final over.
Daryl Mitchell will be on strike for the final over, to be bowled by Mohammed Shami

Shami with a smile. He knows he's bowled the right delivery but Ferguson has kept it out.
Another yorker from Mohammed Shami but it is too close to Lockie Ferguson's pads and he is able to dig it out with ease.
No hat-trick for the India seam bowler, but he'll be happy with four wickets.

Henry cleared his front leg and played that like a tailender but what a ripper from Shami.
Into the side for the first time and really showing that he should have been picked from the off.

Two in two! Henry has his leg stump ripped out of the crowd and Mohammed Shami is on a hat-trick.
A stunning piece of bowling.
