Thank God we have Shemilt to provide us with his negative bile. The match hasn't even started yet and he's already talking about England's "extensive" failures. At least wait until after the match to start brutalising the side.

Dilshan Madushanka has the ball. Left-armer. Swings it. Very good bowler.

I am worried that unless there is some swing our opening 10 overs will go for a lot of runs.

Right then, here we go. Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow are making their way to the middle. Keep an eye on the shirts England have been wearing. You've spotted the printing errors, right? Different lettering from shirt to shirt. We should have known things might go wrong when we saw the shirt issue...

Looking on the bright side of what has been a poor showing from England so far, there's really nothing to lose now as it's pretty unlikely they'll make the top four so go out there and play like the Aussies have done in their last couple of games!

I'd like to clarify that soon after I went through a Spice Girls phase, my taste in music altered. Green Day, Oasis, Pulp all discovered.

Not that there is anything wrong with the Spice Girls. Say You'll be There is a right tune.

Also, Geri Halliwell, was in the office this morning. A young me would have been bursting with excitement. I thought about asking for a selfie, but bottled it.

Watching from Medellin. Colombia, its 3.15am, hoping for a huge total from the lads, we need a dominant performance to pull us out of this, dare I say it, “out of character” rutt. Still think we are lacking a bowler like Joffra Archer or a true ODI specialist, though. Sri Lanka have performed well with Bat and Ball but have been on the unlucky side at times so they are going to be a real challenge.

And, as ever, I need you to to talk me, mainly because my day has got off to a shocking start.

When I left the house, I grabbed my coat, as you always should when working in Salford. However, on arrival, I found out I'd actually picked up a jacket belonging to my five-year-old son.

Not only that, I went in the wrong entrance to the car park, meaning the barrier wouldn't raise. I had to reverse, do what can only be described as an 11-point turn, all whilst holding up all the arriving BBC staff.

Anyway, how's your day going? WhatsApp on 0330 123 1826, text 81111 (UK only - standard message rates apply) or tweet #bbccricket.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali speaking on TMS: "We're anxious, we want to win. It's important we start well. We haven't kept going, we've probably tried too much and it's not really worked. It's go back to basics, take the game on and build our confidence as a side. I think as individuals we need to step up when we get the opportunity.

"It's small boundaries here, a great wicket. Hopefully we can bat deep and score big hundreds. We go one game at a time, at the previous World Cup we needed to win three on the bounce to qualify and we won five to win the whole thing. We know we can do it.

"If there's one side that can fight and possibly win from this position it's us. We're pretty grounded, but we think we can win."

England have not played like they have for the last six or seven years, they've been too cautious thinking about what their opposition bring to their game. By putting their opposition in they've looked hesitant, but batting they've got no option but to go out and win the game.

Not that I want to worry anyone, but England haven't beaten Sri Lanka in a World Cup match since 1999. That's four successive defeats. The 10-wicket hammering in the 2011 quarter-finals and nine-wicket shellacking in the 2015 group stage are strong entries to England's extensive World Cup hall of shame.

Hello from Bengaluru which, on first glance after two days, seems a lovely city.

It’s another warm day but a few degrees cooler than Mumbai. The air is certainly cleaner.

England have gone back to their set-up from the first game in picking their all-rounders. Muddled thinking?

England have gone in circles with their team, haven't they? Keep Brook in when he gets runs, leave him out when they realise they got the balance wrong. Drop Woakes, Moeen and Livingstone, only to bring them back. Is today's the correct combination?

England captain Jos Buttler: "We've done enough talking, it is about performing today and if we play to our potential we know we are a good team.

"We stay very level as a group. There is some frustration about not playing how we'd like but there is qualify individually and collectively and we have to play more as group.

"We haven't performed as well we'd like throughout the team but hopefully we can get a good start today.

"We're changing the balance of the side again with Harry Brook, Reece Topley and Gus Atkinson missing out for Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes."
