It's rather brainless. The shots that we saw were tricky to play early off the seamers were those shots down the ground, because of the seam movement and the extra bounce. We saw Kohli and Shreyas fall in the exact same way so it's a strange choice of shot just two balls into Willey's over.

That is a big partnership to break and England have an opportunity now with India's tail being longer than usual.

It's a bit of a gimme, but that is exactly what England needed.

    David Willey, partnership breaker!

It's more daft batting from KL Rahul than a brilliant piece of bowling, in truth.

Rahul dances down the track looking to strike the England left-arm seamer back over his head but ends it up skying it.

Jonny Bairstow stations himself under the catch at mid-on. A comfortable take.

Rohit just ignored the fact that the ball might spin, he's played that almost against the spin. Beautifully played.

  5. Ind 131-3published at 30 overs

Rohit Sharma is going through his full repertoire today.

The India skipper shows plenty of high top elbow with a stylish lofted driver back over the head of Moeen Ali for four.

    Glorious shot.

India's run rate at 4.37 at the moment, which is not unduly concerning for England, although the hosts do have seven wickets in hand so there's a platform for the big push.

What a contrast in Jos Buttler’s expressions and body language compared to Eoin Morgan’s. Jos hides nothing, heart on his sleeve, you can almost hear his eyes rolling when things don’t quite go to plan.

This hasn't been the classic pitch we have seen at this World Cup, but it is maybe one for the bowlers.

It is well-played by Rohit Sharma. Liam Livingstone is a part-time bowler and if this is going to be a tight game, Jos Buttler has be careful of how many runs he lets Livingstone concede.

  9. Ind 125-3published at 29 overs

Rohit Sharma's powerful wrists to the fore as he attempts to throw Liam Livingstone off his length.

The India captain skips down the pitch to Livingstone's third ball and flicks it over the head of mid-wicket for four.

Next ball, Rohit goes deep into his crease and whips the ball to the same region but this time Chris Woakes is able to limit the damage to two runs.

It doesn't seem like the most even-paced pitch and that is from all types of bowlers. There was quite decent bounce through to the keeper early on, hence Sheryas Iyer got out pulling.

  11. Ind 118-3published at 28 overs

Moeen Ali, freshly shaved head, continues to wheel away. Pushing and probing outside the off stumps of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma.

Neither India batter prepared to play anything overly aggressive to the England spinner just yet.

    Two singles off the over.

That reverse sweep from Rohit Sharma was very, very daintily played. Up go the blue shirts once again. Beautifully played.

  13. Ind 116-3published at 27 overs

For a powerful man Rohit Sharma has a beautiful deft touch at times.

The India skipper rather elegantly reverse sweeps the third ball of Liam Livingstone 's third over for four.

Rohit then slashes a cut through point for back-to-back boundaries.

This is Rohit Sharma's 12th score of 50 or more in World Cups, he joins Virat Kohli, Shakib Al Hasan and Kumar Sangakkara.

Sachin Tendulkar leads that list on 21.

  15. Ind 105-5published at 26 overs

Jos Buttler turns to Moeen Ali for the first time today.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul content to farm the strike and nudge the England spinner into the gaps with five runs taken from it.

England to win all their remaining games, make us all hope for a miracle and then finish fifth? Or are we mathematically already out?

    Zac, Leeds

England aren't mathematically out, Zac. However they must win all their games and hope other results go their way. Even then it might come down to net run-rate and there's no guarantee England would progress.

According to CricViz England currently have a 2% chance of reaching the semi-finals.

This over has been a bit of a liquorice all sorts so far. India get to 100, but it has been a battle for them to get up that far.

  18. Ind 100-3published at 25 overs

KL Rahul is starting to show a bit more intent against Liam Livingstone as the India batter picks up back-to-back boundaries.

The first has an element of fortune as Rahul pushes at it with hard hands and the ball runs away through third.

Rahul then gets down low to ruthlessly sweep an ankle-high full toss to the boundary.

    11 runs off that over.

As usual there's been some superb strokeplay, but there was also an overturned lbw decision on 33.
