Good delivery from Shami, that seam was perfectly up right yet again. Moeen just prodding on the front foot looking to drive can only get an outside edge. Shami is having some day, he really has been the difference.

  2. wicket

    Moeen c Rahul b Shami 15 (Eng 81-6)

    Shami returns, Shami strikes.

Another rather innocuous dismissal as Moeen prods at one outside off stump and nicks behind for a simple catch to the keeper, who throws the ball into the air in delight.

It was a good ball, with Shami's trademark seam movement, but Moeen couldn't resist playing at it.

    England slump into further misery.

    Target 230

The spinners are rattling through the overs here and England only going at around two an over is certainly helping their cause.

How long can Moeen and Livingstone stay patient is the question. Livingstone has 20 from 34 and Moeen has 15 from 30.

I don't think Rohit looks pleased, that was a pretty ordinary bit of work out there.

    A boundary!

    A shot of intent!

Liam Livingstone slog sweeps Kuldeep Yadav for four, beating a tumbling dive from Mohammed Siraj. The outfield is soaked with dew, as Siraj goes sliding across the turf, suggesting he misjudged that quite badly.

The spirit of the pre-Bazball Test team lives on.

Eoin Morgan's legacy is being made a laughing stock by these poor performances. Eoin and Trevor Bayliss built this team into winners, albeit with a lot of things going their way. They must be horrified at this fall from grace for England. Matthew Mott's comments before the game didn't help. That's not the right mindset for defending champions!

Is it really too much to expect of England, to have a bit of cricketing sense and play to the conditions? Time was massively on our side, all we had to do was work the ball into the wet outfield. We're chasing 230, not 1230.

India are a team for all seasons in the World Cup, they've got everything.

Earlier, when England were dominating, I said it felt like we'd gone back to the vibes of 2019.

I'm afraid, now we've been catapulted back to four years earlier than that.

It has been a very disappointing second half from England. Malan and Bairstow put on 30 for the first wicket, before England fell to 39-4. Stokes' dismissal does not get any better when you look at it.

At the halfway stage, Chris Woakes was really happy and he would be, but India have bowled fantastically.

  11. Eng 68-5published at 20 overs

Liam Livingstone takes a huge swing at Kuldeep Yadav, who is turning the ball sideways. The ball narrowly misses the stumps, and he just about keeps his foot down to avoid being stumped.

Remember when England reached the dizzying heights of 30-0? Good times.

If England went out and batted 50 overs they would have won this game. Just bat 50 overs. Just play the game.

Can anyone beat India in their own conditions? Yes, England have played some daft shots but they are just formidable.

England, having lost five wickets, are really living on the edge of danger. It's not an easy surface, no one really timed the ball very well throughout. It means it is deviating off the surface slightly.

Here we go! Livingstone pulls Mohammed Siraj for four. That's the first boundary of my stint so far, if I'm not mistaken.

Of England's 43 partnerships since their two stands of 100+ against Bangladesh, only one has 50 or more runs, that was Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson against South Africa.
