They've been competitive and had good games at this World Cup but today they were awful.

More from Rohit Sharma: "Yes, I know when things are going your way it is pretty pleasing to see, one against England and one now, shows the quality of the seamers. If there is something in the conditions, it is quite lethal with the ball. All in all, it is very pleasing to watch and I hope they do it that way.

India captain Rohit Sharma: "We're very happy knowing we have officially qualified now. It's been a good effort from the entire squad, when we started the initial goal was to qualify, then win the semis and final. It hyas been clinical, we've wanted individuals to stand and put their hands up.

Do you feel you are getting better as a team?: "I think so, our challenge was to put runs on the board. 350 on any pitch is a very good score and our batting unit put us towards that total, then the seamers delivered too.

Pleased to see players like Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami contributing?: "Shreyas as far as I know him is a very strong man, strong in his mind. He did exactly what he is known for, take on the bowlers, take on the opposition, hit sixes and take on the challenge that is in front of him. Siraj, another quality bowler for us. If he does that, things look quite different for us. He's got a lot of skills when operating with the new ball. Very happy."

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis: "I'm very disappointed. They bowled really well and got a bit of seam and swing.

"We had reasons for wanting to bowl first, the wicket was a bit slow. Unfortunately, there was then a little bit of seam and swing which made it difficult to play at night.

"Madushanka bowled really well in the first few overs and the middle overs as well. The Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli chances are very difficult but if you take them maybe the game is changed.

"But everyone bowled really well in the middle overs.

"Their guys bowled really well in the first overs, Mohammed Shami, Siraj and Bumrah. They're great bowlers."

Alex, can anyone beat India?

There was some lower-order resistance from Sri Lanka, but they were still skittled, being bowled out for 55, a 302-run win for India.

From 2-3, Sri Lanka soon stumbled to 22-7, helped by the introduction of Mohammed Shami, who had not yet bowled by the time Sri Lanka were four down.

Inside the first two overs, India started perfectly, restricting Sri Lanka to 2-3.

Some big hitting later in the innings from Shreyas Iyer added further damage to Sri Lanka, with India setting a target of 358 for Sri Lanka to chase.

An 189-run stand from Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill for the second wicket propelled India into a strong position, but both players fell just short of 100.

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka surprisingly put India in to bat on a very hot afternoon in Mumbai. Early signs were promising though, Rohit Sharma departed on four and Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli almost departed early into their respective innings.

India's victory confirms a place for them in the final four today, becoming the first side to do so.

All sorts of statistical nuggets, but for them, the most important is victory and knowing that they are a semi-final win away from reaching the final.

Not that it was ever in doubt, of course.
