  1. SL 36-8published at 14 overs

    Target 358

Sri Lanka may take some positives in the fact that they have climbed over the lowest ever ODI team score and they are now level with the lowest ever World Cup score.

We're trying, Sri Lanka, although the positives are very hard to come by.

  2. SL 33-8published at 13.2 overs

    Target 358

That told Shami, who is driven for four by Rajitha facing his first ball.

Not the cleanest of shots, but the result is good and it runs away for a boundary through cover.

    Mathews b Shami 12 (SL 29-8) Target 358

    Wow. Just wow.

We are simply running out of words to describe India's bowling right now. Mathews, the only player so far to make double figures is cleaned up and Sri Lanka are eight down without putting 30 on the board yet.

If ever there was a sign of India's dominance at this World Cup, this is it.

  4. SL 29-7published at 13 overs

    Target 358

Two more from Theekshana end the over, with seven coming from it in total.

Mohammed Shami continues after that Siraj over, he has 3-1 off two overs so far.

This is heartbreak for Sri Lanka but looking at the replays, some of those deliveries were unplayable.

  6. SL 27-7published at 12.5 overs

    Target 358

    Shot.

Theekshana with a very nice drive between point and deep backward point sends Siraj's delivery for four.

That will go a way towards trying to avoid the lowest ever ODI team score.

  7. SL 23-7published at 12.2 overs

    Target 358

Bad news for fans of binary, with Mathews running a single to take him up to 12.

Unless he gets a century from here, the dream is over.

At the moment, the scorecard is still in perfect binary.

    It's 0, 0, 1, 0, 1, 11, 0, 0.

Sri Lanka are still a chance of making the lowest World Cup score of 36, or the lowest ODI total of 35.

They're on course for the biggest defeat in ODI history as well.

  10. SL 22-7published at 12 overs

    Target 358

No more come from the over, Sri Lanka will be just glad not to have added to their wicket column further, already sitting seven down after 12 overs.

Is there a more dangerous attack in these conditions than Shami, Siraj and Bumrah?

Siraj to continue next, facing Angelo Mathews, who has scored half of this 22 on his own.

Credit to KL Rahul because no one was interested, not even Shami, the bowler.

It looked like it was a wide but it was a good call from Rahul.

The very back corner of the the glove and it's just tickled the little finger.

Another wicket for Mohammed Shami - it's 22-7 and he's bowled nine balls, taken three wickets and conceded one run!

    Chameera c Rahul b Shami 0 (SL 22-7) Target 358

    Gone! My, oh my.

It looked like an optimistic review at first, but a sensational call from KL Rahul. The faintest of flicks off the glove and Chameera is gone without scoring.

Shami has figures of 3-1 and Sri Lanka could be on course for some very unwanted history here.

    KL Rahul likes it.

  15. Umpire reviewpublished at 14:24 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2023

India have a review. Shami's delivery goes across Chameera and it is given a wide. KL Rahul behind the stumps however is adamant Chameera has gloved it.

    Time for a look!

Tendulkar and Muralitharan pressed a big blue button on the pitch to light up wristbands around the stadium, but as Geoff and Phil both said, it is hard to light up a stadium already lit up by the floodlights.

Anyway, back to the cricket. Mohammed Shami will start his second over, after a double wicket-maiden in his first.

The blue wristbands are glowing but you would think turning off the floodlights would help the effect of this.

Away from the cricket, we have a drinks break of sorts now. We have cricketing heritage on the pitch as part of a UNICEF campaign involving Sachin Tendulkar and Muttiah Muralitharan.
