India have won, Sri Lanka have lost by 302 runs.

It was a big slog, it went high in the air and it was a good catch by Shreyas Iyer.

That is a comprehensive thrashing. India remain unbeaten and are in the semi-finals.

A simply superb performance from them with the bat and they didn't give Sri Lanka a sniff. They struck first ball and after that it was a procession.

It is hard to see who on earth can withstand the relentless onslaught of this bowling attack.

    Madushanka c Shreyas b Jadeja 5 (SL 55)

Jadeja takes the wicket and India's sensational performance concludes is a monstrous victory.

Madushanka's shot loops up, Shreyas Iyer gets underneath it and takes the catch.

India - outstanding. Sri Lanka - woeful.

  3. SL 55-9published at 19.1 overs

    Target 358

Madushanka, who got five wickets earlier today, now has five runs, finding four off the first ball of the over.

Not how Jadeja will have wanted to start today, having seen his colleagues take wickets quickly.

  4. SL 51-9published at 19 overs

    Target 358

Two singles come from Kuldeep's second over as Sri Lanka pass the 50 they were bowled out for against India in the Asia Cup final in September.

Ravindra Jadeja is in for a bowl for the first time today, with Shami going off after claiming his fifth wicket.

This India team are looking unstoppable.

Pakistan are the only team that could surprise them in the semi-finals.

It's five for Mohammed Shami. He is part of the standout bowling attack at this World Cup.

Sri Lanka are on the brink. It really is carnage out there.

The end of the highest partnership of the innings, 20, and Rajitha is top-scorer.

    Rajitha c Gill b Shami 14 (SL 49-9) Target 358

Five for Shami, nine for India!

Great delivery and it is a brilliant catch at slip from Gill. A bit of lower-order resistance from Rajitha comes to an abrupt end for him, courtesy of the outside edge of his bat.

That was also Shami's 45th World Cup wicket, becoming the first Indian to pass 44.

That is not what you want to see as a top-order when you see a tailender play a shot like that because you know they'll come back in saying it wasn't that difficult.

  9. SL 47-8published at 17.1 overs

    Target 358

Driven for four by Rajitha off Shami's first ball, with both batters now into double figures.

It is now definitely not Sri Lanka's lowest ODI score, but their lowest in a World Cup match is 86. Quite the ask from here.

  10. SL 43-8published at 17 overs

    Target 358

Kuldeep gets some joy on this pitch, with just one run coming from his first over of the match.

India stick with Mohammed Shami next up. If he gets both of these final wickets, he would be just the second Indian bowler to take six in a World Cup match.

I think these two batters might start to enjoy themselves. They've got a spinner to face!

I believe that two runs scored by the top five is the fewest in ODI history.

  13. SL 42-8published at 16 overs

    Target 358

A dot ends the over and after 16 overs of pace that have bought eight wickets, it's time for some spin in the form of Kuldeep Yadav.

Every bowler has struck so far and Kuldeep will be hoping to get in on the act.

We've seen a lot of one-sided games at this World Cup but none as one-sided as this.

  15. SL 42-8published at 15.5 overs

    Target 358

Driven for four by Theekshanka. He's one of only three players to have scored more than one so far, driving Shami back past his feet for four.

It also sees Sri Lanka's No.9 reach double figures with the bat.

In terms of the lowest World Cup total, Sri Lanka have crept past Canada. They'll be delighted by that.

  17. Postpublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November 2023

Mohammed Shami continues with the ball in hand, having already claimed four wickets so far. The most recent to go was Angelo Mathews.

What I like about India is that they're ruthless. Rohit Sharma has got three slips in place.

Sri Lanka are 37-8 and you've got Siraj bowling a couple of very hostile short balls.

  19. SL 37-8published at 15 overs

    Target 358

Siraj's seventh over sees just one run scored. It is however the one run that puts them clear of Canada's World Cup record of 36 all out in 2003.

Sri Lanka's lowest ODI total before today was 43, that's the next target to chalk off.
