  1. Ned 167-8published at 40 overs

Rashid Khan completes another fine spell but a wicketless one, finishing with 0-31 from his 10 overs.

I have successfully managed to complete a 20-over stint of spin, so it has gone by very quickly.

I'll leave you in the hands of Tom Mallows to take you through the last 10 overs.

I think that's crashing into middle stump, I'd love to see the ball tracker for that one.

  3. Ned 164-8published at 39 overs

Another very good shout for lbw from Mujeeb, but Afghanistan have no reviews left so he has no choice but to just get on with it.

There's almost another (!) run out next ball as Aryan Dutt hits straight to mid-off and runs, but Van der Merwe is just quick enough to survive.

  4. Ned 162-8published at 38 overs

Roelof van der Merwe is a flamboyant cricketer, an aggressive batter, so his nine from 21 balls so far will be really testing his patience.

The aim now has to be to just bat the 50 overs and see what you get.

It's not the most popular way of playing but sometimes it's necessary (cc. England).

Here are three of the four run outs in all their glory.

  6. Ned 158-8published at 37 overs

That is not a very flattering statistic, is it?

Four of the top five run out - it's only the second time that's happened in men's international cricket. The other time was Hong Kong against Oman in the pentangular T20 series in October 2019.

  8. Ned 154-8published at 36 overs

Rashid Khan is a fantastic bowler but his facial expressions are just as much fun to watch. He doesn't hide much, rolling his eyes and stomping back to his mark in a grump.

He's bowled eight overs for 24 runs and really has deserved a wicket.

Oh, it's missing! Would you believe that? A googly from Rashid Khan's done too much. For all the money in the world that looked out.

    Well, what do I know?

    It's missing leg stump!

Don't think there's much doubt about that one, but the Dutch have two reviews remaining and Roloef van der Merwe is taking one.

  12. Netherlands reviewpublished at 35.3 overs

    Another.

Roelof van der Merwe is pinned in front, given out on field but reviews out of hope. They have two left, so might as well use one, especially as he's probably their last chance with the bat.

Uncertainty is a disease for running, and it has run through this Dutch side. Four of their top five run out.

  14. Ned 152-8published at 35 overs

A calamitous innings, from 73-1 with four run outs.

Afghanistan have bowled well but those four wickets have been gifted to them.

That's been the story of their innings. Afghanistan are well into the tail end of this Dutch side.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 34.3 overs

Engelbrecht run out Nabi 58 (Ned 152-8)

Yes, it's a fourth run out. Carnage.

It's Sybrand Engelbrecht too, which is just the worst possible outcome for the Netherlands.

It's a tight single after Roelof van der Merwe hit the ball firmly to the fielder at mid-wicket, and Engelbrecht's dive is in vain. He trudges off, his body language probably mirroring that of the mood in the Dutch camp right now.

Is this yet another Dutch run out? They've had three already!

  18. Umpire reviewpublished at 34.3 overs

Surely not? Surely not another run out?

  19. drinks break

    Ned 151-7published at 34 overs

Some quick running sees Engelbrecht and Roelof van der Merwe take five from Noor Ahmad's over, and earn themselves a drinks' break.

With these two at the crease, 200 is still possible for the Netherlands.

  20. Ned 146-7published at 33 overs

Just three singles from Mohammad Nabi to back up his wicket from the last over.

There really are no easy ways out against this Afghanistan bowling line-up, their spinners are formidable in conditions that suit them.
