If Engelbrecht can stay in for the majority of the innings, you never know they may be able to get to 200. Which would be a decent score in the context of where they are now.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Sybrand Engelbrechtpublished at 32 overs

    Ned 143-7

Four more! Engelbrecht sweeps and brings up a battling half-century from 74 balls.

Netherlands' hopes are on his shoulders now if they are going to get to a somewhat respectable score. It's not been easy batting against the spinners but he has withstood the pressure very well.

  3. Ned 138-7published at 31.1 overs

Crashed through the covers for four! Sybrand Engelbrecht just needs someone to stay with him here.

This is really smart from Mohammad Nabi. He has taken the pace off and dragged his line back to tempt Logan van Beek into the attempted drive.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 31 overs

Van Beek st Alikhil b Nabi 2 (Ned 134-7)

    Well, that didn't last long.

Having been whacked for four, Mohammad Nabi bowls slower and slower and deceives Logan van Beek in the flight.

The batter is tempted, tries to launch it down the ground but misses by a mile and it's another tidy bit of work from Alikhil behind the stumps.

That was a remarkable stroke from Engelbrecht. All about placement and timing.

  7. Ned 133-6published at 30.2 overs

That's more like it! A rare shot of intent, as Sybrand Engelbrecht skips down the pitch to Mohammad Nabi and threads it through the covers for four.

He earns himself some enthusiastic applause from the dugout.

It's also worth mentioning that Rashid Khan's team talk, after he'd spent a bit of time off the field with an injury, is what seemed to wake Afghanistan up after a ragged start.

    They've been utterly dominant since.

  9. Ned 126-6published at 29 overs

Rashid Khan has whizzed through seven overs for just 22 runs.

    A master.

They held on to this one, though. A smart bit of work.

Every slip catch is a difficult catch, especially when the batter is going so hard at the ball.

But at this level they should be taking those opportunities.

  12. dropped catch

    Engelbrecht dropped on 27 & 31published at 28 overs

    Ned 123-6

Edged, straight through keeper and slip - twice!

The first bounces out of the keeper's gloves, giving Nabi at slip the chance of a rebound catch but it's absolutely flying so it just ends up running away for four.

The second is almost a mirror image, evading the keeper this time and just bursting through Nabi's outstretched hands.

Engelbrecht gets away with a couple.

  13. Ned 115-6published at 27 overs

Just a single and a wide from Rashid Khan's latest over.

It seems that the Netherlands are just trying to get his 10 overs out the way, but that just lends itself to wickets falling at the other end instead as they try and attack.

The Netherlands' period of dominance feels like a lifetime ago.

  15. Ned 113-6published at 26 overs

Logan van Beek joins Engelbrecht in the middle.

From 73-1, it has all fallen apart rather quickly for the Netherlands.

    The Netherlands are falling apart.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.3 overs

    Zulfiqar c Alikhil b Noor 3 (Ned 113-6)

    From bad to worse!

A quicker ball from Noor Ahmad and Saqib Zulfiqar tries to play it off the back foot. A bottom edge zips straight into the gloves of the keeper and Afghanistan are buzzing.

The spinners continue to work their magic.

  18. Ned 112-5published at 25 overs

Halfway through and after a promising start from the Dutch, it's all Afghanistan at the moment.

Just two from Rashid Khan's latest over.

Bas de Leede was the latest victim of the mini-collapse. Mohammad Nabi has 1-15 from six overs so far.

  20. Ned 110-5published at 24 overs

One of the Afghanistan fielders runs in and tells the umpire that Noor Ahmad was trying to bowl a googly, so ball-tracking should have showed it spinning the other way.

Well, the on-field umpire doesn't control the review system and the ball didn't even bounce before it hit the pad, so I'm not quite sure that argument stands.
