Glenn Maxwell is back for his ninth over and it's a tidy one - he's been quietly impressive all innings.
Just five runs from his latest.

This is the bit of life that Afghanistan needed. Someone to take a risk.

What a brilliant shot.
Wow! Welcome to the game, Azmatullah Omarzai!
The new batter gets off the mark with a stunning shot, inside-out over extra cover off Mitchell Starc.
All the way for six. Incredible. It doesn't get much better than that.

It is a full ball from Starc. How many times has he done that!?
Hashmatullah b Starc 26 (Afg 173-3)
Bowled 'im!
Having just knocked Travis Head for singles, Hashmatullah decides Mitchell Starc is the bowler he wants to take down.
He comes charging down the pitch and tries to give himself room to hit over the off side but Starc fires it in full and straight, under the bat and into middle stump.

Its been a good partnership for these two. But there is danger of it becoming a bad partnership right now.
There has been no risk during this innings. There has been no bad balls, which has allowed Australia to settle in.
This is a very interesting approach from Afghanistan. They're content to let Travis Head, Australia's sixth bowler, get through his over for the cost of just four singles.
There was no real intent to find the boundary, either. You wonder when they'll make their move.
Alex Hartley

They will be giving the message, this is the bowler you look to target and take down.
Here comes Travis Head. A chance for Afghanistan to start their big push?

Afghanistan need to find a way to get a bit of a move on here.
An odd moment early in the over as Mitchell Starc sends a ball just down the leg side.
The umpire initially didn't call it wide but then changes his mind.
The extra ball doesn't cost him much, though, as he ends with three dot balls in a row. All tailing in a touch and fired in at the blockhole.

This could be an opportunity. Starc is on to bowl.
This will be interesting.

If they carry on at this run-rate Afghanistan will get 236 and that doesn't feel like anything near enough. If they can get up to eight an over they'll be up near that 280.
Mitchell Starc had real trouble in his previous spell but he's back into the attack.
Those issues came when he was bowling over the wicket so he starts by going round to the right-handed Ibrahim Zadran.

Australia are on top but you can tell they are at the stage of the innings where they are like 'ugh this is boring'. They are not racing around between overs and attacking the ball because there's just no need.
You can always tell when that is happening because nothing is going on, you're just waiting for something to happening and the wicketkeeper has gone quiet.
Helped by a leg side wide that Josh Inglis can't gather cleanly to start Adam Zampa's over, Afghanistan are able to get moving again.
Just six from the over but it's a step in the right direction. With 15 overs to go, it won't be long before they really try to kick on.

As a bowler it is incredibly frustrating if you are being hit for six singles in an over and you're unable to build dots so Afghanistan need to work on that.

There's only been two runs off each of the last three overs. Afghanistan are getting stuck.
