  1. Afg 149-6published at 34 overs

Extremely optimistic review aside, that's a good over from Kagiso Rabada.

South Africa will want this innings wrapped up as quickly as possible, though, especially given they have a few injury worries or little niggles to consider.

That's one of the few that Quinton de Kock's got wrong. He's normally very good at choosing when to go to the review, I think he was convinced a little too much by Temba Bavuma.

  3. Not outpublished at 33.4 overs

Not even close. A wasted review from South Africa.

Umpire's call on impact and going well down leg.

Looks to be a poor review. South Africa are already going back to their marks.

  5. South Africa reviewpublished at 33.4 overs

Big appeal for lbw from Kagiso Rabada as he hits Rashid Khan on the pad.

It looked to be going down leg but Temba Bavuma sends it upstairs. I'd be very surprised if this is out.

In these conditions we've seen Maharaj rip a couple, he's not typically a big turner of the ball.

He's got amazing consistency, he trains with cones for line and length and he never misses once.

  7. Afg 146-6published at 33 overs

Keshav Maharaj returns. He was very impressive in his first spell.

It's a good over, just three from it.

Azmatullah Omarzai is going well and will have to stick around for a good while longer if Afghanistan are to get upwards the 240-250 they'll be aiming for...

  9. Afg 143-6published at 32 overs

Kagiso Rabada, playing his 100th ODI, is back into the attack for South Africa.

After four dot balls, the fast bowler sends down another decent delivery but it is superbly driven on the up by Azmatullah Omarzai.

It cracks off the middle of the bat and through extra cover for four.

It's so much lighter in the late afternoon and evening in Ahmedabad compared to Kolkata. But that's a two and a half hour flight, it goes to show this is a huge country.

  11. Afg 139-6published at 31 overs

    Rashid 4, Azmatullah 42

After three singles come from a trio of length deliveries to start the over, Gerald Coetzee digs a couple in short.

He overdoes the third, though, and is called for a wide, allowing Azmatullah Omarzai to work a single from the extra ball.

Afghanistan are ticking over but not much more than that.

They've been ordinary deliveries, but it's the way he's put them away. Slapped through the covers and then to the left of the bowler.

  13. Afg 134-6published at 30 overs

Back-to-back boundaries for Azmatullah Omarzai to get things going again after drinks!

They're both pretty loose deliveries from Lungi Ngidi but Azmat deals with them superbly, driving the first through cover and nailing the next back down the ground.

Wickets have fallen in clumps for Afghanistan.

They lost three in quick succession prior to that drinks break with Lungi Ngidi removing Rahmat Shah and Mohammad Nabi.

Gerald Coetzee dismissed Ikram Alikhil between the two.

  15. Afg 124-6published at 29 overs

Gerald Coetzee has taken on the enforcer role for South Africa with Anrich Nortje out and has done so with aplomb.

He gets his bouncer slightly wrong this time, though, and it sails down leg for a wide.

  16. Afg 120-6published at 28.1 overs

    Shot!

The merest hint of width from Gerald Coetzee and Azmatullah Omarzai cracks the ball through extra cover for four.

It was turning into a very hopeful World Cup for Afghanistan, they had an outside chance of a semi-final and then Champions Trophy qualification. But now it feels like that Glenn Maxwell innings has completely taken the wind out of their sails.

  18. Afg 116-6published at 28 overs

Rashid Khan is the new batter for Afghanistan.

He's very capable with the willow but you'd associate him far more with big hitting late in an innings rather than a gradual rebuild.

Quinton de Kock knew it straight away, he was on it straight away. I can only apologise to Mohammad Nabi for putting the mockers on him.

    Nabi c De Kock b Ngidi 2 (Afg 116-6)

There's a spike on UltraEdge and Mohammad Nabi has to go.

Great review, credit to Quinton de Kock.

It's another example of the bounce in this surface because it wasn't a great delivery from Lungi Ngidi.

It was too wide really, that's what drew Nabi into the stroke but it got up that bit more than he expected and he's feathered it behind.
