  1. Afg 226-9published at 48 overs

Gerald Coetzee drops to his knees in exhaustion after completing another very good 10-over spell of 4-44, his best ODI figures.

Mujeeb swiped, miscued and Markram caught it. Azmat at the non-striker's end sees his chance of a hundred receding.

    Mujeeb c Markram b Coetzee 8 (Afg 226-9)

Coetzee strikes again, and Mujeeb's short-lived fun comes to an end.

A poor shot, really. All he had to do was get the singles and get Azmatullah, who is on 84, on strike. Instead he strikes to whack Gerald Coetzee down the ground and picks out Aiden Markram for a simple catch at mid-off.

He really did hoik that! It wasn't sophisticated, but it was effective!

  5. 6 runs

    Afg 224-8published at 47 overs

    Wow!

Lungi Ngidi tests number 10 Mujeeb Ur Rahman with a short ball and while it's not entirely controlled, he uses all the pace to help it on its way over fine leg for six!

Azmatullah then nails a fuller ball straight down the ground for six more!

The crowd enjoyed that one. An expensive over from the struggling Ngidi - 20 from it. That is very, very valuable for Afghanistan.

  6. Afg 208-8published at 46.1 overs

Well, Azmatullah isn't going to hang around now.

With his side eight down, he's going to have a swing and why not? He thumps Lungi Ngidi's first ball down the ground for four.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 46 overs

    Noor c De Kock b Coetzee 26 (Afg 204-8)

    Gets his reward this time!

The short ball does the trick once again for Coetzee. A good set-up in the over - testing him with the short stuff and the yorker and making Noor Ahmad a little tentative. He takes on the pull shot but gets a faint edge through to the keeper and that ends a very handy little partnership for Afghanistan.

Coetzee has bowled well for his 3-42.

How has that gone between his back foot and his leg stump? It's sped away to the boundary, fine leg didn't even move.

  10. Afg 204-7published at 45.5 overs

Gerald Coetzee is bowling brilliantly for very little reward. He tests Noor Ahmad with a yorker after the short ball, but the batter gets a lucky edge past the stumps for four.

It was a skiddy delivery. It may have just hit the glove on the way to the grille. It was a pretty nasty one.

  12. ouch!

    Afg 200-7published at 45.3 overs

Afghanistan bring up their 200 before Gerald Coetzee whacks Noor Ahmad in the helmet with a nasty short ball.

The bowler checks he's OK, before the physio comes out for a concussion check. Thankfully, he is fine to continue but that was hostile from Coetzee.

It's another decent partnership at this stage of the innings. 38 runs - it's taken 43 deliveries to get there. Maybe they'll give it a thrash in the final couple of overs.

  14. Afg 198-7published at 45 overs

Noor Ahmad adds to Rabada's annoyance by digging out his perfectly-executed yorker and stealing a single from the last ball of the over.

During yesterday's encounter between Sri Lanka and New Zealand we saw one of the great irritating last-wicket stands with Maheesh Theekshana's 38 from 91 balls.

Noor's isn't quite as agonisingly slow but it's certainly having the same effect on the bowlers.

That was a quality shot! He rolled his wrists to hit it to the left of extra cover, rather than hit it to the sweeper and just get one.

  16. Afg 195-7published at 44 overs

Shot! Noor Ahmad whacks Gerald Coetzee through the covers for four with a shot that an opening batter would be proud of.

Coetzee, in a classic angry fast bowler's style, follows it up with a sharp yorker right on the toes and then a nasty short ball that Noor takes on, but plays it along the ground to fine leg for a single.

South Africa will be very frustrated if they can't bowl Afghanistan out here.

  17. dropped catch

Noor dropped on 12published at 43 overs

    Afg 188-7

Down! More frustration for Rabada and South Africa.

Noor Ahmad drills one back to him in his follow-through, which is never easy, but he gets two hands to it at a comfortable height but can't hold on.

  18. Afg 187-7published at 42.1 overs

That'll help! Azmatullah whacks Kagiso Rabada over the leg side for four more.

    Precious runs, these.

Azmatullah will be the key for Afghanistan if they are to bat out the 50 overs. He's well set on 66 from 86 balls.

Temba Bavuma tried but gave up the chase. He wants to stay out there, there's a lot of pressure on him as captain of this South Africa team, he's scored the least runs of the top seven.
