Six or out?
It's Buttler lofting to long-on. Haris Rauf on the rope. He tries to take the catch, throw it off, go off the field then come back to complete the catch.
Has he trodden on the sponge?

Is this a drop? Mohammad Wasim makes a complete hash of a stop/chance at short third. Buttler reversing Shadab, it hangs in the air for a moment, but Wasim never looks like catching it.

Pretty big crowd at Eden Gardens for England v Pakistan. And even though India aren’t playing, still plenty of Virat Kohli fans!
Harry Brook is the new man, he'll have seen plenty of Shaheen at the PSL. Root is dragging himself to the dressing room. He looks absolutely shattered.

It's a well bowled delivery and Joe Root was probably not expecting the ball to hold in the surface. He will be disappointed but England are in a pretty good position here.
Root c Shadab b Shaheen 60 (Eng 257-4)
Shaheen Afridi strikes again! Two in two overs, both of England's set batters. This time it's Joe Root, who gets a leading edge that loops over point, where Shadab Khan runs back to take a tricky catch over his shoulder. Shaheen is bowling like peak Wasim Akram here.

There is a question about the captaincy has been an extra burden on Jos Buttler.
Previous captains have been quite candid that when things like this happen to you for the first time you can struggle to sleep and other things and until you find coping mechanisms it can be very difficult.
I firmly believe he should lead England towards the next World Cup in 2027.
Pakistan have had to go back to Shadab because they haven;t got enough pave resources to get them through to the end. England spot an opportunity. Root sweeps, then Buttler reverses, both for four.
Aus 192-2 (31 overs, target 307)
Australia are going along steadily at in their pursuit of 307 to beat Bangladesh in Pune, with number three Mitchell Marsh reaching his century from 87 balls.
He is joined by Steve Smith on 27, with David Warner departing for 53 after a stand of 120 with Marsh.
Earlier, Bangladesh had to settle for 306-8 as they fell short of posting a huge total. Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 74 but six other batters made it past 20 before throwing their wicket away.
Australia are already through to the semi-finals but will take plenty of confidence into that game against South Africa if they can win their final group game here, while Bangladesh are eliminated but still scrapping for Champions Trophy qualification.
You can find the scorecard and listen to radio commentary of that game here.
Jos Buttler is the new man. Good luck starting against Shaheen bowling like this. Looking again, Stokes was playing a bit of a hack, but the delivery was homing in directly at the base of off stump. Wouldn't have mattered what shot was being played.

It was a good knock from Ben Stokes. It provided impetus.
This is the perfect platform for Jos Buttler to take advantage of.
Stokes b Shaheen 84 (Eng 240-3)
Bowled him!
That's a rozzer from Shaheen Shah Afridi, late swing to take out Ben Stokes' off pole.
Stokes looks bemused - he might have even got an inside edge. He falls short of a ton and that is the end of what might be his last innings in ODIs.

Joe Root seems to be a lot more becalmed.
Eng 240-2
Joe Root has battled his way to a half-century, from 65 balls. Just the three fours and two of those were pretty recently. In fairness, given the conditions, this might be more in keeping with what we should be expecting. It's just that Stokes is being Stokes.

Greg: Surely Pakistan shouldn’t be wasting reviews on Joe Root. It’s better for them if he stays there I would think.
There's buses everywhere in London.

It is like the old London buses.
It has been reversing, but Wasim has lost his line. Root clips off the pads, then cuts a wide one, picking up back-to-back fours. He's on 46.

We play every team twice, right?
James, Cheddar
Root tries to get going by playing two reverse-scoops at Haris Rauf. One he misses, the other he gets a single to third man. Even Stokes is becalmed by Haris. It's looked harder to score in the past couple of overs against the pacers.
