Ben Stokes is in the mood to hit boundaries but he's finding it very difficult at the moment.
Is this the last time we'll see Ben Stokes in an ODI? He's in good nick following that ton against the Dutch. It's tough out there, though. The pitch is two-paced. Root, often so fluent but in mixed touch during this tournament, is striking down near 70.
Many thanks, Timothy. Tim is looking sharp today. Fresh haircut and everything. I'm cheery because it's Saturday - the day for sport. I do, however, have a little bit of FPL worry. Not sure about my transfers. England have pooped the party here. Completely stubbing out any remote chance of Pakistan doing something to sneak into the semis.
Somebody who could rival the smiling Shadab Khan for cheeriness today is Stephan Shemilt who will take things overs from here.
The permanently beaming Shadab Khan rattles through another over. Neither Ben Stokes nor Joe Root have quite nailed the sweeps and reverse sweeps off the Pakistan spinners yet.
Four more singles off the over.

It's keeping low. It's not going to be an easy pitch to bat second on.
A leading edge from Ben Stokes as he lurches forward to Iftikhar Ahmed but it drops safe.
Four singles off the over with the lack of pace not giving either he or Joe Root much to work with.

Kolkata has always had a vibe, passion and love of cricket perhaps more than anywhere else in India.
Shadab Khan's joie de vivre continues. Joe Root inside edges the final ball of his seventh over. It misses the stumps, wicketkeeper, and picks up a couple of runs.
Shadab has a fairly economical 0-31 so far.
Here's that caught-and-bowled chance offered by Ben Stokes which Shaheen Afridi spilled a few moments ago.
Nice from Ben Stokes.
Shaheen Afridi is a touch full and a little too straight and Stokes effortlessly flicks it in the gap between mid-wicket and mid-on for four.
That gives Stokes some impetus and he cashes in with a couple more boundaries later in the over, thwacking Shaheen through the covers before a hearty biff down the ground.

It is hard to look beyond India to win the World Cup, isn't it?
I like the way that South Africa have operated at times but if you look at the depth and variation that India have in their bowling attack, they feel a juggernaut.
It has surprised me how inconspicuous Australia's pace attack have been. Mitchell Starc has really struggled with the new ball.
I don't think Shadab Khan has stopped smiling throughout this spell.
Joe Root punches one wide into the covers and Shadab sprints to his left and drives but is unable to stop the ball, prompting another broad grin from the Pakistan spinner.
A few balls later and Ben Stokes attempts to sweep but the ball hits his elbow and he almost plays on. This time England's Test captain exchanges smiles with Shadab.
Ben Stokes punishes Shaheen Afridi a ball later, whacking him back down the ground for four. Shaheen castigates himself.

Stokes is through the shot slightly too early. It holds in the pitch slightly. It's never simple as a bowler, but you back yourself. Shaheen can't believe it.
A simple caught-bowled-chance offered by Ben Stokes but Shaheen Afridi spills it.
Stokes chipped it back to him and an almost identical drop to the one which he put down off Dawid Malan earlier.
Ben Stokes' ongoing knee issues don't prevent him from attempting to reverse sweep Shadab Khan. However, he fails to make contact but the ball skids through past Muhammad Rizwan and races away for four byes.
Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow reached his half-century earlier...but then fell not longer after.
It's almost as if the slight glimmer of hope they had of qualifying for the semi-finals pretty much being extinguished by England has released the pressure on Pakistan's players.
Quite a few smiles around now. Joe Root and Haris Rauf are sharing a running joke throughout the over, from which England milk four singles.
Who knows, maybe even this spirit of bonhomie might prompt a smile from David Willey later on.

It's good to have Steven Finn back on TMS today. The poor guy has been stuck in his hotel bed for a week in Kolkata after injuring his back.
It still takes him a good 15 minutes to get up the stairs to the Eden Gardens commentary box.
Joe Root picks up his first boundary of the innings and he will not get an easier one in international cricket.
A juicy knee-high full toss from Shadab Khan and Root biffs it through mid-wicket for four.
It does little to stifle Shadab's happy-go-lucky personality for the rest of the over. He's still smiling away, living his best life.

Haris has bowled five overs for 41. His front foot is landing near the stumps, which suggests he's struggling for rhythm.
