Rohit Sharma is not timing the ball as well as he has been - and he's still on 42 from 34 balls. That one was not far away from Max O'Dowd at mid-off and Van der Merwe almost had a wicket first ball.

There hasn't been any consistency from the Dutch bowlers. They have bowled both sides of the wicket, plenty of width and too full. There's no consistency so there is just no pressure on the batters at all.
Another six from Shubman Gill as he gets one in the slot from Paul van Meekeren's second ball and effortlessly clips it over the long-on boundary.
It's carbon copy shot to the Dutch seamer's fourth ball, although this time he only picks up four.
Here's how the India opener whacked his second six of the day, and he hasn't really slowed down since.

That's all of Van der Merwe's experience. He has been playing a long time, knows his plans well and he will be happy with that start even though there was a boundary in it, because that boundary was almost caught.
Now then, the Dutch 'Bulldog' Roelof van der Merwe has been thrown the ball in an attempt to slow down this India assault
The fifth bowler used in these opening nine overs.
Screams of "catch" from Van der Merwe when Rohit Sharma mistimes a chip over the top but it is over the head of the fielder at mid-on.

There is just no margin for error. I'm not sure how the Dutch are going to slow things down here. The boundaries have been flowing from the very beginning.
The India fans are waving their flag and cheering every run at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium where, in truth, the boundaries are relatively easy to reach for batters.
Scott Edwards shuffles his pack and turns to the experienced and dependable Paul van Meekeren and Shubman Gill gets lucky that a filthy slog into the off side thuds in the turf.
The final ball of Van Meekeren's over is a fraction short and Gill dismissively pings it for a flat six over the boundary. at mid-wicket.

It doesn't look like either batter is timing the ball perfectly. They are both pushing at the ball quite a bit but it is still flying to the boundary!

A fantastic start for India. We've been guessing all morning at what they might score, and it's looking ominous for Netherlands.
Aryan Dutt has got to be taken out of the attack now. They were scoring very freely off him.
A change of bowling for the Ntherlands as Colin Ackermann replaces Aryan Dutt,
However, it does little to slow down this India assault as Rohit Sharma pumps his fourth delivery back over his head for another six.
Here's one of those sixes from Shubman Gill from a little while ago.

India are flying. Australia scored 118 in the powerplay against New Zealand - is that going to be overtaken today?
Logan van Beek bangs it into the pitch but the ball just sits up to Shubman Gill and says 'hit me'. The India opener duly obliges with a pull to mid-wicket that sails over the ropes.
The over is bookended by fours from Gill - both into the legside.
Scott Edwards needs to find a way to stop the flow of runs.

Sometimes as a bowler, you just have to admire a good shot.
Rohit Sharma just clears his front leg, and times it perfectly past the bowler, a powerful strike.
Rohit Sharma has picked the length of Aryan Dutt superbly, and picks up two more boundaries in his third over drilling him through mid-off and then thrashing it through the covers.
There's a brief heart-in-mouth moment from Dutt's fourth ball when the India skipper ballons up a reverse sweep with Bas de Leede lurking, but the ball drops safe.
Rohit Sharma is still grimacing, and moving a little sheepishly, after that blow.
He manages a single off the final ball from Logan van Beek, worked neatly into the leg side, to keep the strike.
Here's that emphatic start from Rohit in Aryan Dutt's first over.

There was a lot of excitement about that appeal. Logan van Beek was trying desperately trying to plead with his captain for a review.
Knee roll? I'd be having a look at that. Maybe umpire's call.
Logan van Beek hits Rohit Sharma high on the pad as the India skipper plays down the wrong line.
There's a decent appeal from the Dutch players, but it's given not out on the field.
Scott Edwards ponders a review but decides against it. The technology shows it would have been umpire's call.
Shortly afterwards Rohit is struck in the, ahem, particulars and the physio is on the field.

That's just pure timing. A shimmy down the wicket, a flick of the wrists and it is heck of a hit, clattering into those advertising boards up there.

Oh my word. That has almost gone out of the ground.
