I think 230 is probably competitive given India's spinners.

Suryakumar is backing Kuldeep against Starc, happy to take the singles.

The silences at the fall of a wicket are turning into disappointed groans.
This was not the script.
Kuldeep Yadav arrives. India just need someone to support Suryakumar. Zampa is done with 1-44 from his 10. He has 23 wickets in the tournament. No spinner has ever taken more at a World Cup.

I think Pat Cummins' captaincy has been magnificent. His decision at the toss was brave but this is why he bowled first, to put India under pressure.
All he is thinking about now is bowling India out and restricting them to 220 if they can.

Bumrah comes down to talk to Suryakumar but just keeps on walking.
This is really slipping away for India.
Bumrah lbw Zampa 1 (Ind 214-8)
Gone! Jasprit Bumrah plays all around a straight one and India are eight down. Adam Zampa gets it to slide into the front pad. Bumrah doesn't even bother with a review.

Can anyone explain why this pitch would have been chosen? Whilst any type of match will appeal to the cricket enthusiast, it seems an odd choice when many new fans will be watching.

Zampa is bowling his final over. Slip in place for Bumrah.

2011 World Cup, Bangalore, India Vs England. There were just a few England fans and probably about 60,000 India fans. At the half way stage India had racked up 338 runs. It seemed that most of the small number of England supporters left at that point! My wife and I stayed to watch Andy Strauss and the boys chase it down to a tie! 60,000 Indians cheering a wicket followed by silence and me cheering boundaries. Great fun!

Jasprit Bumrah is the new man. Another a couple of places too high.

That is just about Mohammed Shami's favourite shot - get the front leg out of the way and heave.

That is enormous. Australia are just chipping away.

A little nick! Suryakumar won't be happy with that because Shami has had a swipe at that.
There is a danger that India are going to subside.
Shami c Inglis b Starc 6 (Ind 211-7)
Big swish and gone! Mitchell Starc is doing the business with the old ball.
Mohammed Shami aims a huge swipe, trying to blast the ball out of Ahmedabad, but only gets a tiny feather through to Josh Inglis.

I was watching the 2003 Rugby World Cup final in a backpackers in Cairns. I was supporting the Wallabies but it felt like I was in a bar in Twickenham!! Such a great game, ended up celebrating with the English fans till 3am!

Cummins takes the pace off when he bangs it in, then cranks up the gun when he goes full. Four singles off it.

Mixed feeling among predominantly ‘blue’ fans in the stands. Some already feeling let down by the famed Indian batting order as others hope for another miraculous rescue by the bowlers. One man who travelled from Chicago for the final said, “someone needs to understand we put our life savings on the house to watch this expensive match. Not value for money so far, I am afraid”.

Former Australia captain on BBC Test Match Special
Pat Cummins has recognised this as an opportunity to restrict India to 230 or 240.
At the current rate, they'll get to 246 and the way the pitch is playing, that won't be an easy chase.
Australia smell blood. Cummins brings himself back with a slip in place for Shami.
