  2. 'Like the Hong Kong Sixes!'published at 23:42 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

England captain Jos Buttler: "A fantastic win. It was like being at the Hong Kong Sixes tournament wasn't it?! We showed so much character. Phil Salt again, to back it up with two hundred in a row is a phenomenal effort. I am really proud of the group to go 2-0 down and show the reaction we have. To show the bravery, courage and ultimately skill level as well to be able to execute it. I am delighted for the guys and it's a really confident changing room.

"I am very happy doing that [playing second fiddle to Salt] and it's been an enjoyable partnership with him. We've done it in The Hundred and stuff together and at Lancashire so we know each other's games really well. He's playing brilliantly well so full credit to him.

"I gave him the gloves today to get a different perspective as captain, to try it out in the field. I wanted to gather as much information and seeing what it feels like just running around and being a bit closer to the bowlers. We'll see how it goes. I don't mind either. To be honest it doesn't make that much difference either way.

"Both teams have played some really good cricket throughout the series and it's great to be going into the last game of the tour with it 2-2 and all to play for. A perfect Christmas present would be a series win."

  3. 'Our time to feel under pressure'published at 23:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

West Indies skipper Rovman Powell: "Credit where it is due. Phil Salt and Jos Buttler batted really well up front. I said we needed plans, but those things do happen. It gives an opportunity now to come and do better.

"It's a fine line when you are playing against world-class players and when you don't execute properly they are going to put you under pressure. When England's bowlers didn't execute well we put them under pressure and now its our time to feel some of that pressure.

"The boys like a final it seems! We will come with brand new ideas and plans and see if we can entertain our fans at home. We have failed to close out the series from a good position but Thursday is an opportunity to do that.

"Sometimes when things aren't going well you push the guys to train but sometimes you need to back off and give them some space, some alone time. It's a thinking game. We'll find time to allow the guys some time to get clarity about how they want to play and then we'll come on Thursday and see how well we can execute it."

  4. 'A good habit to get into'published at 23:24 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2023

England batter Phil Salt, player of the match: "I am definitely enjoying it. It's a cool place to come and tour and play cricket. The boys have produced the goods in the last few games and now we have the decider to look forward to.

"It's very satisfying to score back-to-back centuries. Obviously the tweaks that I have made to my game in the last six months have more been from a mental approach point of view more than anything else so it's good that I am seeing the rewards.

"Myself and Matthew Mott spoke after my innings in the first game and he said it is a habit. Once you break that ceiling and get into that habit you can hopefully do it again and again. I think after the first few overs they bowled well at us, and it was tricky with the new ball and evened out as the ball got a bit older.

"I reckon at the five or six over mark myself and Jos Buttler got into a bit of partnership and we realised we could put them under pressure. At times we felt under pressure in the field. They are a good side and the way some of their lads strike the ball - almost one down to 11 - you never know what can happen, especially with someone like Andre Russell.

"It was nice to get a game under my belt with the gloves, too. Jos normally hogs them!"

England have been excellent and reaffirmed the manner in which they want to approach white ball cricket. It was set-up by the opening partnership by Phil Salt and Jos Buttler. What I like about Salt is that he sets the tone at the top of the innings. Jason Roy embodied it previously and Salt has taken on that mantle.

Encouraging signs for England in the past two T20 internationals as they build towards next year's World Cup.

We'll have all the reaction from both captains at the presentation and see who is named player of the match. Should be easy to work that one out...
