Mark Wood gets in on the act! He absolutely loves his batting so we can expect to see a few shots from him too.

  2. Eng 215-8published at 58 overs

    Stokes 43, Wood 7

Tea is in a couple of minutes but Mark Wood isn't playing for the interval. He follows the lead of his skipper by bashing Ravichandran Ashwin through the covers.

Wood even signals to Ben Stokes that he's picked Ashwin's wrong un.

It's almost a shot a ball from Ben Stokes now. Slog sweeps, reverse sweeps - he's trying to hit every ball from Jadeja for four.

There's the switchy, reversey smash again! Brilliant batting from Ben Stokes. 14 from the over including three fours.

  6. Eng 204-8published at 56.3 overs

Slogged for four more by Stokes...

Stokes skips down the track and absolutely thumps Jadeja down the ground. Great shot. I think he's going to play a few shots here.

    250-260 will be around par.

  8. Eng 200-8published at 56.2 overs

And Ben Stokes drills his next ball for four.

    200 up!

    Marais Erasmus agrees. Stokes survives.

Hmmm. There isn't much of a spike but I think there's a deflection.

  11. Postpublished at 08:33 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

Has Stokes hit this? There's a deflection and India no longer look fussed.

  12. India reviewpublished at 56.1 overs

If this has hit Ben Stokes' pad he could be in trouble.

    India fancy a review.

  13. Eng 196-8published at 56 overs

    Stokes 30, Wood 1

England will feel so much better if whatever score they do get begins with a two.

No sign of the Mark Wood slog sweep yet. It won't be long.

Tom Hartley played nicely. Even though he's walking back for 23, he'll be heartened to see how much that ball turned. He'll look forward to having the ball in his hand later on.

Here's Mark Wood. I think I know how he will play.

It was quicker, and a little bit fuller - Jadeja showing all of his experience.

A nice little partnership between Hartley and Stokes, though. He would've enjoyed that. But it was another beautiful spinning delivery.

Can England get to 230? That'll give them a chance.

    Hartley b Jadeja 23 (Eng 193-8)

It was too good to last.

Tom Hartley is annoyed at himself because he does quite swing or defend and is bowled through the gate by Ravindra Jadeja.

Still, 23 from 24 balls is a handy effort on this spinning pitch.

Rohit Sharma has his hand on his chin now as Ben Stokes plays that reverse slap for four again.

India are being made to think here.

Tom Hartley with the first six of the innings and it's a monster! Off the experienced Ravichandran Ashwin, too - that'll make the debutant feel good.
