Over in Brisbane, the Test between Australia and West Indies is bubbling away nicely.

The bowlers are fighting back with West Indies 161-6 - a lead of 183.

Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge all made starts but couldn't kick on, with Nathan Lyon the pick of the bowlers so far with 2-28.

Justin Greaves and Kevin Sinclair are tasked with leading West Indies' rebuild.

Ravichandran Ashwin is probing Ben Stokes here. The first ball, the one that resulted in that stumping shout, beat the edge. Another is driven in the air. All the while Ashwin has his tongue out like a man concentrating on painting a masterpiece.

India's attack is good. So, so good.

Has Ben Stokes got a spike down here?

    Marais Erasmus thinks so.

    It wasn't obvious.

The umpires are checking a stumping to Stokes which I initially thought was an optimistic appeal.

Pope gets down to slog sweep Ravindra Jadeja to gets four to mid-wicket. I think he'd decided he was going to play that shot regardless. It wasn't quite there to hit but he managed.

Ben Stokes has come out in two runs from 50 balls mode rather than all-out Headingley assault, perhaps a sign that he still thinks there's plenty worth fighting for.

He plods forward to Ravichandran Ashwin in a rare maiden..

The difficulty of England's task is shown once more as Jadeja, having just bowled Bairstow with a ball that went straight on, rags one past Ollie Pope's edge.

    It has turned too much.

The TV commentators are debating what target England will want to set. Steady on.

Ravi Jadeja is very highly-rated in India. He is one of the first names on the team sheet in all formats.

Pope is still insistent on playing those reverse sweeps. He misses as many as he hits.

Great knock from Ollie Pope. He has used his feet very well throughout and has got over his first-innings jitters.

He's been very proactive, and busy at the crease in his usual way.

    Well played, Ollie Pope.

I gave him little chance today after the first innings but he clips his old nemesis Ravichandran Ashwin away for four to bring up his fifty.

Bumrah celebrates wicket of RootImage source, Getty Images

It has been very competitive cricket.

India only added 15 runs to their overnight score before being dismissed for 436 in what was a very good start for England.

The last three wickets fell without a run being scored with Joe Root on a hat-trick at one stage. He finished with 4-79 - his second best Test figures.

Faced with a deficit of 190, England raced to 89-1 from just 15 overs at lunch with Ben Duckett sweeping everything in sight.

Afterwards, though, Jasprit Bumrah produced a magical spell to remove Ben Duckett and Joe Root and Ravindra Jadeja has just bowled Jonny Bairstow.

India are right back in control.

Bairstow just stood there for a while, seemingly unable to understand what had just happened.

There has been some special bowling today.

That is the challenge as a batter with such an open stance. His left foot was not covering off stump and that's exactly what Jadeja has exposed.

I can confirm Tuffers the Cat is purring at that dismissal.

Here's Ben Stokes and England are still 50 behind.

Bairstow goes to a gorgeous bit of bowling from Jadeja. The big spinner the ball before went past the outside edge, he follows it with the arm ball to go straight on and take the off stump.

It doesn't get much better than that for a left-arm spinner.

    Oh Jonny.

After a positive start, Bairstow departs being bowled while not playing a shot. It looks silly in isolation but the previous ball from Jadeja pitched in the same place and spun away. This one just went straight on to hit off stump.

Left-arm spinner Axar starts this comeback over well before being biffed down the ground by Ollie Pope off the final ball.

Pope looked like he'd never seen a cricket bat before in the first innings but, to his credit, he has batted well here.

There hasn't been any opportunity for those during Bumrah's electric spell.

    That is drinks. Great cricket.
