He has. Good awareness from Rehan Ahmed too.

The last thing England need here is a run out.

    Brilliant cricket all round.

Rehan Ahmed creams a cover drive, but it is brilliantly stopped by Axar Patel in the covers.

He hurls at the striker's end but has Rehan Ahmed got back?

It never ceases to amaze me how often you see teams lose wickets in clusters in India. You're going along nicely and then bang, bang, bang and you're in danger, just as England are now.

They're not picking up Kuldeep Yadav out of the hand and I'm surprised at that from Ben Foakes.

It is imperative that you play the sweeps and reverse sweeps against Kuldeep because you can't just let him keep bowling the same line. You've got to make him bowl shorter and quicker and I think that's what England could have done differently.

Rehan Ahmed is the new batter. The 19-year-old gets off the mark with a single into the leg side.

He, Tom Hartley, Shoaib Bashir and James Anderson need to hang around for as long as possible with captain Ben Stokes.

England are in trouble now. I don't think they've been able to read Kuldeep at all here.

It could be over pretty quickly, it's not looking good. Might be time for Ben Stokes to play a few shots.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38.2 overs

    Foakes b Kuldeep 6 (Eng 172-6)

    England are in real trouble.

Ben Foakes is beat on the outside edge and the ball turns slightly back in and knocks his off stump out of the ground.

    England are 224 runs behind.

Rachel: Oh my days, Jasprit Bumrah is only 30. We could have another 11 years of this if he does a Jimmy!

  9. Eng 172-5published at 38 overs

Jasprit Bumrah has found the edge again. This time of Ben Foakes' bat but thankfully for England it drops well short of slip.

A vicious yorker follows but Foakes is equal to it and gets a single.

The Surrey man did pick up his first boundary earlier in the over as Bumrah strayed onto the pads.

I love this England team. 165-5 and in times past we would moan, but under Bazball you just have a sense that come the end of the game, England could still be in it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they declared in a few overs!

Three singles, including one to get Ben Foakes off the mark, end the over.

The Barmy Army are singing and the trumpeter is playing as they look to help England turn the tide.

  12. Eng 163-5published at 36.2 overs

Kuldeep Yadav drops short and Ben Stokes wallops him to the boundary.

    Don't bowl there to Stokesy.

This morning we were marvelling at Jimmy Anderson, but Bumrah is equally skilful and he’s put India in the driving seat now.

What a fluctuating day of proper Test cricket.

  14. Eng 159-5published at 36 overs

Ben Foakes is the new batter and he sees out the final two balls of Jasprit Bumrah's over.

England were 114-1 less than 14 overs ago. Bumrah has turned the game on its head.

He's just the master of reverse swing. Bairstow was poking at one that nipped away from him but he's also got to be wary of the one coming back in.

It's certainly not easy to play at 90mph!

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.4 overs

    Bairstow c Gill b Bumrah 25 (Eng 159-5)

Jasprit Bumrah is ripping through England.

The India quick may have gone slightly wider on the crease here to draw Jonny Bairstow into the shot.

It is still a pretty loose drive from the England batter, with a healthy nick being well caught low down by Shubman Gill at slip.

England are still 237 runs behind.

  17. Eng 159-4published at 35 overs

Ben Stokes looks like he's happy to defend Kuldeep Yadav most of the time but will then play the occasional big shot.

A slog-sweep brought him four in the final over before tea, and he attempts the shot again but this one flies off the top edge.

It lands safe though with no fielders out and Stokes helps himself to three. It's a relatively risk-free shot as long as Stokes makes reasonable contact.

It'll be the left-arm wrist spin of Kuldeep Yadav from the other end.

  19. Eng 155-4published at 34 overs

    Bairstow 24, Stokes 5

Half an appeal for lbw against Jonny Bairstow, but more from behind the stumps than Jasprit Bumrah. It hit on the thigh pad so would have been far too high.

    Bairstow plays out a maiden.

Jasprit Bumrah is going to start after tea.

The next two-and-a-half hours could go a long way to deciding the Test.
