    Shot!

Tom Hartley gets down on one knee and plonks Kuldeep Yadav over long-on for six more.

Hartley and Stokes have put on 32 so far. They are chipping away.

If Ben Stokes can shepherd the tail through another 90 runs or so, it's still in England's hands. They'll still have the time to put India's fragile batting line-up under pressure.

Olly: Woke up and thought we were doing great, now relieved to avoid the follow on. Bumrah and Kuldeep game changers, though Stokes might decide to cut loose now.

  4. drinks break

A bit of yes and no between Ben Stokes and Tom Hartley before they decide against a single. Please no run outs, boys.

Time for a drink. India will be delighted with the first hour of the evening session, having claimed another three wickets.

  5. 6 runs

    Ben Stokes has switched gear.

He picks up a couple through mid-wicket before slog-sweeping over the fence for his first six.

    Buckle up, folks.

Got the Indian side exactly where we want them: give them a 150 lead, they won't know how aggressively to bat, we'll bowl them out for 100 and then we can chase down 250 with ease to win. Sneaky Bazball tactics.

  7. dropped catch

Stokes dropped on 24published at 44.5 overs

Is this a drop? Probably not, but Rohit Sharma got the end of his fingers to it so I'm going to class it as one.

Ben Stokes rocks back, looking to cut, but edges just out of the reach of Rohit at slip.

It's similar to the one Joe Root shelled yesterday, but to Rohit's right hand rather than left.

  8. Eng 191-7published at 44.4 overs

England are still going to look to be aggressive.

Ben Stokes picks up a boundary by whipping a delivery that kept low into the long-on boundary, before Tom Hartley slog-sweeps just short of the fielder at deep mid-wicket.

The match and potentially the series has turned on that silly Crawley dismissal. England were so on top. Bazball is all well and good but you need game awareness!

Tom Hartley is up and running with a hack through square leg for a couple.

This game has really turned in the past couple of hours. It felt like England were on top half way through the afternoon session, but they are definitely behind the game now.

It's all happening at the moment.

Tom Hartley plays a nice shot for no reward to start, before an appeal for lbw.

He then miscues the last ball of the over off the shoulder of his bat.

Tom Hartley, who showed he was a more than capable batter in the opening Test, is in now.

    England are still 214 behind.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.3 overs

    Ahmed c Gill b Kuldeep 6 (Eng 182-7)

    Soft.

It's a filthy long hop from Kuldeep Yadav and Rehan Ahmed looks to smash it over mid-wicket but cloths it off the bottom of his bat.

Shubman Gill has to time his jump right and is able to hold on at the second attempt.

England were 114-1, they are now 182-7 exactly 20 overs later.

I love loyalty but for how much longer can Bairstow stay in the team? We know he can do it because he has played so well in the past but he just can’t seem to buy a score at the moment. His keeping has improved but a country mile behind Foakes especially against spin. I hope he can find some form but if he doesn’t by the time Brook is available I think he needs to carry the drinks for a while. Be nice if Root found some form too.

The crowd have just started cheering in Visakhapatnam and Ben Stokes looks utterly confused.

That is until he looks up at the big screen and sees a replay of Ravichandran Ashwin bowling him in the first Test.

Probably not what the England skipper wanted to see.

  17. Postpublished at 09:44 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February

England have seen off Jasprit Bumrah for the time being.

    The bad news?

Ravichandran Ashwin is returning and he's dismissed Ben Stokes 12 times in Test cricket.

Screams of catch it as Ben Stokes drills a shot into his boot but Kuldeep Yadav isn't able to make up the ground.

The following ball leaps on Stokes as he looks to cut. He manages to pull away but he's taken aback by that delivery.

Kuldeep is bowling well. He's putting plenty on revs on it and the pitch is helping him.

Homing in on the magic 190-behind scenario.

    Carl, Deptford

It's not all doom and gloom. As long as we get within 190 of the Indian total we should be okay.

    Optimistic John, Rugby

Not sure it is a viable tactic to aim for a 190 deficit every Test. But Stokes will be Stokes...

    That's a serious shot.
