That is a serious five-fer for Jasprit Bumrah when his side really needed him.

They were in trouble and he had to stand him. He's been amazing, ripped the heart out of England and turned the game on its head.

Debutant Shoaib Bashir is the new batter.

He's scored 71 runs in his first-class career and he averages 14.20.

In BazBall style, he's hit three sixes in those 71 runs.

The three bouncing balls terrify me! Please not yellow. Please not yellow!

Jasprit Bumrah has taken four wickets for 13 runs across nine overs in his past three spells now.

    An absolutely superb talent.

I don't think it kept as low as Stokes made it look but that was fabulous. That was huge for India because a first-innings lead is going to be crucial for them, with England having to bat last.

  9. Eng 229-8published at 49.3 overs

James Anderson works Jasprit Bumrah off his hips to get off the mark first ball.

Bumrah has been different class - again. The use of his wrists, he can move it in, away, it's so difficult especially at his pace.

England have got to just get as close as they can. But I would not fancy batting last on this pitch...

James Anderson is the new batter. He's been promoted above Shoaib Bashir!

    Good luck, Jimmy.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.2 overs

    Stokes b Bumrah 47 (Eng 229-8)

It takes Jasprit Bumrah just two balls to knock Ben Stokes' off stump out of the ground.

The ball shapes back a little bit, and keeps a low too, scuttling under Stokes' bat.

Stokes drops his bat and stands there, arms stretched, in disbelief.

Bumrah also stands there, arms aloft in celebration. What a player.

Ah. It's a double change of pace.

    Jasprit Bumrah is coming back.

His last couple of spells have been simple magnificent.

Scott: Anything less than a 1st innings lead of 150 and India's nerves will begin to jangle...

Charlie: Can anyone remember the last time time Ben Stokes scored ‘easy runs’? He loves the drama of the pressured situation doesn’t he! Kind of like an anti-Ian Bell.

    Oh, Tom Hartley.

A gorgeous leg glance splits three fielders and races away to the fence. It was a no-ball too, so England will gratefully accept the extra run.

Think there's a pretty solid argument that Hartley should be batting above Rehan Ahmed at this stage. Ahmed might end up being the better batter long term but at the moment Hartley is more rounded I reckon.

Nothing to worry about. Time to discuss who will be the heroes in the second innings this time. Bashir to take 7/35 and a Duckett double ton?

A change of pace for the hosts.

Mukesh Kumar, whose first four overs cost 33, is coming back on.

    Will England target him?

  18. Eng 222-7published at 48 overs

Two more singles off the over.

England have played Ravichandran Ashwin very well so far. He's 0-61 off 12 overs.

This is good from Ben Stokes.

He completes a quick two into mid-wicket before drilling a straight drive past a diving long-on.

    Six more chipped off.

India have done very well but they have got to be careful here. In the past, they don't have a great record against the lower order and we have seen already in the series England's tail are handy batters.
