I've seen a few replays of that wicket now and Shoaib Bashir deserves some credit. Ben Foakes was up, appealing for the lbw, and the 20-year-old is pointing at the ball saying "catch it" and Foakes is able to react.

Yeah, you can't bowl there. A filthy, wide long-hop is duly punished by Axar Patel.

There were doubts about Axar batting at six but he's played nicely for 44 here.

KS Bharat is the new batter.

    India's lead is currently 354.

You feel England have to go bang, bang, bang, bang, bang here in the half an hour before tea.

It does! England have their breakthrough.

They weren't entirely convinced about taking the review with Ben Foakes getting Shoaib Bashir's opinion and then Ben Stokes taking both on board.

It's a good job they did though with the ball hitting Shubman Gill's top glove and looping up for Foakes.

This might have hit the glove, you know.

    Have England got Shubman Gill?

The centurion tries a reverse sweep but misses.

Initially there's an appeal for lbw and then a catch as Ben Foakes gathers the ball.

Ben Stokes is setting interesting fields. He is trying to make things happen, playing with the batters' head.

  10. Ind 209-4published at 55.3 overs

    Ben Stokes is getting funky.

There's no mid-on, but he's got Ben Duckett very straight down the ground. He's stood just behind the advertising sheet you get on the ground near the bowlers run-up.

It lasts just three balls though, with Duckett then brought up as a short mid-on.

Regarding the spinner debate, surely with Hartley's much superior batting there’s a possibility he becomes #1 spinner if this tour continues to go well for him?

    Martin in Manchester

Personally I’d drop Leach from my team and play Ahmed, looking at potential for the future, bowled really well in the first innings, huge potential and can bat.

Screams of catch it from England as Axar Patel drills a straight drive just over the head of Ben Stokes at mid-on.

If anyone was going to catch that it would be Stokes, but Axar timed it well.

Rehan Ahmed is coming back on to replace Tom Hartley.

Ahmed has 1-55 from his first 12 overs.

Shubman Gill is also batting in a new-ish position. In the absence of some big names, the expectations are massive from him.

In a way, he is leading the batting line-up for the first time.

Shoaib Bashir has definitely offered the most control of the England spinners in this session.

He's getting plenty of guidance from Ben Stokes too with the pair having a conflab mid mid-over.

Tuk tuks in the UK? Weather's too miserable and the health and safety people even grumpier. We'd be better off importing Bumrah!

The no-ball siren is blaring again as Tom Hartley oversteps. He'd already got his cap back from Marais Erasmus.

The partnership between Axar Patel and Shubman Gill is worth 81 now. It feels like it has put the game beyond England.

The ‘Prince' has delivered, and it was a much-needed innings for him.

You could see a bit of relief on his face too, as he was under a lot of pressure.

This is the first time in 12 Test innings that Gill has made more than 36, given the kind of backing that England would give to one of their batters. He could have been out three times by the time he had 20, but has been full of class since then.

There had been some pressure on Shubman Gill after a high-score of 36 in his past 12 innings, but this will silence some of the critics.

It was a relatively subdued celebration from the 24-year-old. It looks like one of relief.
