That is how you respond to the negative chat around you as a player. Great knock and a deserved century for Shubman Gill.

    Ind 201-4

Test century number three for Shubman Gill.

He had some luck and fortune early in his innings but he's been brilliant since.

There have been sweeps, drives and flicks and he brings it up off 132 balls. He's put his side in an incredibly strong position.

Shubman Gill tucks off his hips to move to 99.

A number of you are messaging us saying Ben Stokes should bowl himself and he can make things happen.

Stokes isn't ready to bowl yet after his knee operation post the 50-over World Cup in November.

He is working towards being able to bowl in the summer and only started bowling off two or three paces in the build-up to this Test.

It's time for the players to take a drink. The first hour of the afternoon session belongs comfortably to India.

Way too short from Tom Hartley and Axar Patel smacks a pull into the ropes.

This is too easy for India at the moment.

Gill moves to 96 with a flick out to deep mid-wicket for a couple.

The crowd let out a huge scream the moment they realised he was getting at least a single there. What are they going to be like if his century comes up?

Shubman Gill is one blow away from a Test century.

He moves to 94 with another slog sweep for four to the square-leg boundary.

India's lead should already be enough for them to win the game, but if England are to chase a total you would think they need to the bowl the hosts out in this session.

That means they need six wickets in the next 70 minutes. It feels unlikely at the moment. They haven't created anything in this session yet.

Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope, captain and vice, have just had a little conflab. It feels like England are at the point of no return. They need something special to happen pretty quickly.

The TV coverage is debating the battle to become England's second spinner behind Jack Leach.

England are unlikely to use more than one frontline option in the summer series against West Indies and Sri Lanka but Leach does struggle with injuries.

Ben Stokes' side are due to tour Pakistan in October too so there will be a need for at least two, if not three, options there.

Shoaib Bashir whizzes through another over, conceding two singles.

The 20-year-old has offered Ben Stokes some control in this spell at least.

    Two more singles are added.

It feels like England's spinners, despite taking two wickets today, have been pretty ineffective. They've struggled to find the bounce that Kuldeep Yadav got yesterday.

I wonder if Ben Stokes wishes he had another seamer at the moment.

Tom Hartley replaces Rehan Ahmed and his first ball is sent to the boundary.

The left-arm spinner is too full and Axar Patel drives past Jonny Bairstow at mid-off and away to the fence.

Two more singles added to the total.

With two full days to go after today India are just happy to accumulate and get some extra mileage into the pitch and England bowlers.

There is a gap after this Test though, with the third Test not starting until 15 February in Rajkot.

Rehan Ahmed continues and the leggie is milked for six singles.

Shubman Gill and Axar Patel have put on exactly 50 now for the fifth wicket.

Tidy from Shoaib Bashir, with just a single coming off it.

    England need wickets, though.

A change at the other end.

James Anderson is replaced by Shoaib Bashir.

India have added 35 runs in six overs after the interval.

Just when it looks like England are building a little bit of pressure post-lunch, Shubman Gill plays three brilliant shots to take advantage of Rehan Ahmed.
