Has Jasprit Bumrah trapped Ben Duckett right in front of his stumps?

Kumar Dharmasena says no, but Bumrah is very keen and after a bit of a chat we're heading upstairs.

Duckett would go for it out of the rough anyway and it would be more difficult to control. You might also be able to slow the scoring rate down by bowling into the rough.

At the minute Duckett is messing with the spinners' head because he takes out the stock delivery. The good balls are going for four.

If I was India I would bowl Ashwin a few balls over the wicket to Duckett and throw it two yards outside leg stump to get him sweeping out of the rough.

  4. Eng 115-1published at 20 overs

Once again, Duckett finds the boundary off Ashwin's bowling. He works away the ball through a gap in the mid on vicinity.

That's the first hour of this evening session. England have scored 84 runs from 14 overs - tasty.

Mid-week India England Test matches should be given as mandatory holiday! I don't think I'll be making many sales today!

The aggressive nature with which England have played the spinners has rattled Rohit.

  7. Eng 108-1published at 19 overs

India bring back Jasprit Bumrah to replace the sorry Kuldeep. No worries for England, Pope whips away his first ball for four. It wasn't a great one to be honest, full and on the legs.

He tightens up with four dot balls before a thick inside edge sees Pope retain the strike with a single.

Duckett is playing some knock. He looks like he is going to hit every ball for four. India don't know how to counteract it.

  9. Eng 104-1published at 18 overs

Duckett finds a chink in the Ashwin armour - amid five dot balls he swipes him away for four through mid-wicket.

  10. Eng 100-1published at 17 overs

    Shot!

Magnificent on drive from Ollie Pope, crashing Kuldeep flat and hard over the Rajkot ropes.

He brings up England's hundred three balls later, running two off to a misfield at backward point. There was a bit of confusion at the end, he had to do a full length dive back into his crease to avoid the run out.

  11. Eng 92-1published at 16 overs

Another tidy over from Ashwin, England's batters take a single apiece.

Ashwin's 500th wicket came in his 98th Test - he sits ninth on the all-time list, with Nathan Lyon in eighth on 517. Anil Kumble is the only Indian above him, sitting in fourth with 619.

  12. Not outpublished at 15 overs

    Eng 90-1

No, Pope's back foot was stretched backwards but held firm on the ground as Jurel whipped off the bails.

He attempts a reverse sweep off the final ball of the over - it doesn't come off and that's a maiden.

  13. Umpire reviewpublished at 14.5 overs

Is Ollie Pope departing almost straight away?

Kuldeep thinks he has the England batter stumped - we're going upstairs....

  14. Eng 90-1published at 14 overs

Here comes Ollie Pope, who was out twice in the 20s in the last match after his remarkable 196 in the first Test at Hyderabad.

He gets off the mark with a prod to cover, before Duckett has to jam his bat down to keep out a quicker final delivery from Ashwin.

How many Tests has Ashwin missed during his career? And had he played in these matches, how many wickets could he have had? Wonderful bowler.

That was a bit of a dodgy ball really - full and going down the leg side - but 500 Test wickets is sensational. Ashwin will be the key as to whether England win or lose this Test.

500 Test wickets for Ravichandran Ashwin!

Zak Crawley attempts to sweep him and the ball takes the top edge, looping up for an easy catch for Rajat Patidar at leg slip.

This is why Rohit Sharma turned to him, he breaks the England opening partnership with his seventh ball of the innings.

Sarfaraz has gone to stand at mid-wicket, still with his helmet on. The way Kuldeep is bowling and Duckett is batting, Sarfaraz needs it.

  19. Eng 88-0published at 13 overs

Back to business as usual with two more fours for Duckett, sweeping and pulling Kuldeep with ease.

The India spinner is looking rather flushed out there - he's gone for 34 from his four overs so far.

Ashwin on, no doubt aiming for the furrow he left in the pitch while batting this morning.
