Ah, here's Ravichandran Ashwin to try and stem the English tide.

He's successful in the sense that's the first over in eight than hasn't featured an England boundary.

The India spinner strikes Crawley on the pad sweeping, but he's outside the line.

If the punishment should fit the crime, then running on the wicket with spikes could be punished by the now barefoot bowler having to run in on the upturned spikes of a bed-of-nails mat.

Duckett must drive bowlers mad. Flashing play and misses followed by gunshot boundaries through the off side.

  5. Eng 72-0published at 11 overs

    England are simply rattling along!

A four apiece for the openers from this Kuldeep over, Duckett sweeping through mid-wicket before Crawley drives one across the line.

Brilliant from Duckett. He has grabbed back the momentum for England. But how you can get to 50 without facing the bowler who has had the better of you all series is bonkers.

    What at fifty that is.

  8. Eng 67-0published at 10 overs

And that's fifty for Ben Duckett!

He takes Siraj for two more fours, guiding him backward of square before slapping one through the point region. That's 49, and a single in a similar area brings up the landmark from just 39 deliveries.

For good measure Crawley adds another four through the covers from the final ball of the over. He's on a comparatively sedate 11 from 22.

You can't take your eyes off this England cricket team. Duckett is motoring along at six an over looking to score every ball. India are scratching their heads. England just have to keep it going.

  10. Eng 54-0published at 9 overs

We saw surprisingly few sweeps in the Indian innings, but Ben Duckett is happy playing the shot today.

He reverses this time, looping Kuldeep Yadav's ball uppishly to the boundary to bring up England's half century off 52 deliveries (but don't forget their total has been plumped by those five penalty runs).

    Totally agree.

Rohit Sharma hasn't had a great series captaining. He looks a little bit perplexed by it.

How England have managed to get to near on 50 and Ashwin hasn’t bowled yet is beyond me.

Ben Duckett is absolutely flying. If it's up it's off.

He's got a couple of good starts in the series but it will be interesting to see if he can go on and get a big one.

  14. Eng 48-0published at 8 overs

Another four for Duckett! He punches Siraj back down the ground and to the ropes.

And goodness, there's another. Short from the Indian seamer but it sits up nicely for Duckett, who pulls aggressively, sending the ball high over the leaping mid-wicket fielder.

He reaches 36 from 33 at the end of the over.

Re: punishments- the batting side get to choose ANY opposition player to bowl a 5 over spell. Anyone seen Rohit bowl before?

India introduce Kuldeep Yadav for our first taste of spin in this innings. Duckett sweeps him for consecutive fours, the first a little more expansive than the second.

There's a gap in the field there and the England opener is taking advantage.

    Hello, hello.

All this talk of punishments, this live has taken a rather sadistic turn.

Meanwhile the England openers are skipping back onto the field - they'll be looking to dole out some punishment of their own...

The punishment for running down the wicket should be to bat barefoot. The punishment should fit the crime.

England are unscathed but haven't faced an over of spin. Mohammed Siraj bowled really well. Ben Duckett was a bit frantic there.

The trial by spin will come later and then we will see how England will fare.
