  1. Ind 258-4published at 72 overs

    Lead by 384

Debutant Sarfaraz Khan is the next man in - he was rather cruelly run out for 62 in the first innings having looked well set for a hundred.

Amusing replays of the wicket show Joe Root's turn away, he's waving for the physio and Ben Foakes wander over to check in on him.

They then both suddenly turn around and appeal having heard the shout from a teammate. Evidently neither had thought it was out.

Root looks set to bowl the next over, so no major damage.

It could be fireworks now. 20 overs of these two would set up the declaration.

    Yadav c Root b Ahmed 27 (Ind 258-4)

    Yep, that's gone.

No bounce there, and Rehan Ahmed has his first wicket of the innings.

Kuldeep departs, having seemingly lost his momentum having been responsible for Gill's run out.

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 71.4 overs

Is Kuldeep Yadav out? No-one seems entirely sure.

Joe Root takes the catch at slip off Rehan Ahmed and immediately turns away, having seemingly hurt his finger.

Someone around the bat rather belatedly calls howzat, and the umpires send the decision upstairs. The ball struck quite low on the bat, and the TV umpire says he's checking for a bump ball.

Kuldeep surely needs to get on with it now. India cannot lose from here

  6. Ind 257-3published at 71 overs

    Lead by 383

Jaiswal takes a single to mid-wicket from Joe Root's second delivery, before Kuldeep faces four more dots.

A big appeal from Joe Root as he strikes the India batter's pad, but no-one else is interested.

  7. Ind 256-3published at 70 overs

    Lead by 382

Rehan Ahmed rattles through a maiden to Kuldeep Yadav.

The India all-rounder has scored just one run in the six overs since that run out.

  8. Ind 256-3published at 69 overs

    Lead by 382

Yashasvi Jaiswal is back in his groove, slipping back into his crease and late cutting Joe Root for four.

    He moves to 113.

  9. Ind 250-3published at 68 overs

    Lead by 376

Jaiswal works Rehan Ahmed's delivery behind square to bring up India's 250.

A decent bit of turn for Ahmed, which Ben Foakes calls appreciatively for from behind the stumps.

  10. Ind 249-3published at 67 overs

    Lead by 375

A first maiden of the day for Joe Root as Kuldeep fails to break the in-field.

He does try to set off for a run, but perhaps wary of another run-out, swiftly changes his mind.

Like any good tailender, Kuldeep Yadav started to run for the quality of the shot. A nice, crisply-timed drive should be runs!

  12. Ind 249-3published at 66 overs

    Lead by 375

Changes at both ends as Rehan Ahmed comes on for Tom Hartley.

India's batters take a single apiece.

I last messaged TMS in June 2023 while I was pregnant and watching IND vs AUS. My baby girl is now here with us and I'm following the commentary online whilst finishing her night feed... making the 4am wake ups easier. She was actually born during CWC in November 2023 and of course I had to have the cricket on throughout my labour. As you can tell... very much hoping she'll be a cricket fan and maybe even a candidate for international cricket! Happy Sunday everyone and what a great Test so far...

    Lead by 373

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is back out there for India, having retired on 104 yesterday evening with back trouble.

Joe Root has replaced Mark Wood and Jaiswal pushes him to mid-wicket for a single.

That's a bit of a nightmare for India - the nightwatchman running out the guy on 90-odd.

It's a bit of luck for England and a disappointment for Shubman Gill who played nicely.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 64 overs

Gill run out 91 (Ind 246-3)

Oh dear, oh dear, and indeed, oh dear.

Gill misses out on his century, run out at the bowler's end. Kuldeep strikes the ball to Ben Stokes at mid-on and calls through Gill for the single, but changes his mind and sends his partner back.

Hartley takes the ball on the bounce and brings it down on the stumps. Gill is well short having made his way half way down the pitch. The India number three has to go and hits the ground with his bat in frustration on his way off.

Cricket has not been the winner in the last couple of overs. We'll take drinks.

  17. Ind 246-2published at 63.4 overs

    Oh dear.

Hartley traps Kuldeep sweeping, Joel Wilson says no and England decide not to use that remaining review.

Three reds on ball tracking - that would have been out.

Three balls prior, Gill pulled for four to move into the nineties.

  18. Ind 241-2published at 63 overs

    Lead by 367

Prior to that rather desperate appeal, Kuldeep had rather awkwardly struck Wood for four through third to bring up the fifty partnership. Kuldeep has 26 of them.

England now have one review remaining, by the way.

  19. Not outpublished at 04:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

    What do you know?

  20. Umpire reviewpublished at 63 overs

England have sent one upstairs for lbw.

Kuldeep has obviously inside edged it - so I'd *guess* this might remain not out.
