Now then.
Joe Root is struck on the pad. The umpire isn't convinced but Ashwin is.
It's very full. It could be close.

Kuldeep only bowled 12 overs in the first innings - very odd for a bowler who bowled so well in the third Test - and still no sign of him in this innings.

First bowling change.
Here's Mohammed Siraj. I suspect Zak Crawley in particular will like this.
Siraj starts nicely though, just one from the over.

For all of the debate about Bazballing, this is the sort of situation where it really comes into its own. Duckett was tentative, Pope out of touch and England on the back foot. Old England teams would have frozen, prodded around, become sitting ducks. By counter-attacking, Crawley has built the lead and forced India onto the defensive. Superb stuff.

Just one from the over. England's lead is growing nicely.

Another lovely cover drive from Zak Crawley finds the boundary.
Those two wickets in two balls seem a distant memory.

India have spread the field far too soon. It makes it easy for England to knock Ashwin’s better balls for one.

This is more nerve-wracking than Root in the nervous 90's.

A single to Root takes England's lead to 100, before Crawley drives aerially towards mid-off but it lands safely.
Steady on, Zak.

England are finding the singles easily. There are barely any men around the bat, no slips.
Is Rohit Sharma letting England get out of this too early?

Zak Crawley is far too good a player to average just 32 in Test cricket. He makes batting look so easy.
Lead by 95
It's been controlled aggression from Crawley so far. None of his boundaries have come from reckless shots and his defence has been solid when required, too.
He has 26 from 33 balls and it's also taken a lot of the pressure off Root, allowing him to settle into his innings.

If everyone could not take your dog out until tea, thanks.

Another stunner.
Crawley drives Jadeja past mid-on for four more. A lead of 100-150 and wickets in hand, I suspect India will start to twitch.

My daughter was watching with me but she got up to feed the guinea pigs just before Duckett and Pope were out. She is now back watching but knows those wickets were her fault!

Crawley is playing Ashwin beautifully. He is playing aggressively but not recklessly.

OK, fair enough.
Two more glorious drives, both all along the ground and perfectly controlled, reach the cover boundary.

Root and Foakes, day one, session two mentality and approach required here for England.
Or not.
Zak Crawley skips down the pitch and lofts Ravichandran Ashwin over mid-off for four.
It's a lovely shot. Now don't get carried away...
