Will we see the ultimate cricket trivia question enacted this Test, of: 'Which bowler, playing their 100th test, got the wicket of a batter playing their 100th test, whose score was 100 - at a strike rate of 100 - with their 100th ball bowled of the innings?'

    Allan, Worthing

  2. Eng 129-2published at 33 overs

    Crawley 75, Root 13

More appeals for caught down the leg side against Zak Crawley.

Wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel is adamant, but Sarfaraz Khan, who got the earlier one right, said "I don't think so", or words to that effect.

There's no edge. It's off the thigh pad. Jurel is not having a good day on that front.

  3. Eng 124-2published at 32 overs

This is pretty patient Test cricket at the moment. It's a good battle between bat and ball.

We haven't seen that too often when England have been batting in the past 18 months or so. It all feels a little strange.

    Played, Ruth.

The quiz is here if you fancy a go.

It's to celebrate Jonny Bairstow reaching 100 caps in this Test.

Feeling very pleased with myself after getting all of the answers in the 'played 100 Tests' quiz. Just need a big score from one of the current Test centurions to make my day.

    Beauty.

Jasprit Bumrah has been swinging the ball in to Joe Root, targeting his pads and stumps, but opts for the out-swinger.

It has Joe Root prodding forward, but there's a little bit too much movement and it beats the edge.

  7. Eng 119-2published at 30 overs

Shot, Zak. A punchy cover drive brings the England opener four more. He's played the drive beautifully today.

He's up to 69. Can he go on?

He's been dismissed nine times in the 70s in Tests and five times in the 80s. He's never been out in the 90s.

  8. Eng 113-2published at 29 overs

    Crawley 63, Root 11

Feels like there's plenty happening post-lunch.

Joe Root picks up his first boundary through square leg, but there are yelps from the India fielders who know he would have been plumb lbw if he'd missed.

Four more via a strangle follow, before a leading edge falls just short of the man at point.

  9. Eng 105-2published at 28 overs

Oh my days. What a delivery.

Kuldeep Yadav finds plenty of turn and it beats Joe Root, who is pushing forward in defence, between bat and pad.

It misses off stump by a matter of inches and Kuldeep leans on his knees in disappointment. Root has a little smile as if to say "I have no idea how you play that".

Kuldeep has bowled beautifully so far.

It was the faintest of edges. That was a tough one for Rohit Sharma.

  11. Eng 102-2published at 27 overs

A brief half-appeal from Jasprit Bumrah for lbw against Zak Crawley but it's missing leg so it is quickly halted.

It feels like England are going to have to battle through for a period here.

  12. Eng 102-2published at 26.2 overs

Zak Crawley edged it! England and their opener have got away with one.

It's a very faint edge but it would have been given out on review.

Rohit Sharma is apologising to Sarfaraz Khan, who was adamant it was out at short leg.

The DJ has opted for Macarena during the change in overs. It's been a very interesting mix so far.

We're going back to pace at one end. Jasprit Bumrah returns.

  14. Eng 101-2published at 26 overs

Joe Root is up and running with a single into mid-wicket off his first ball.

There are then appeals for Zak Crawley caught at short leg as Sarfaraz Khan holds on to the ball after it deflects off keeper Dhruv Jurel...

...but India opt against the review after a long conflab. Did Crawley miss that or was it a thin nick?

  15. Postpublished at 06:39 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Right, time for cricket again.

Joe Root has joined Zak Crawley at the crease.

We've got three balls of Kuldeep Yadav's over remaining so the left-arm wrist-spinner will get us going.

We've also got a long read on the site about England's tour of India in 1984-85.

They flew out to India as unfancied underdogs, but, against a backdrop of assassination and unrest, clinched a comeback series win.

Jonny Bairstow is playing his 100th Test this week.

Before play started he was presented with a special cap and there was a speech from Joe Root.

Bairstow did say it would be emotional and he'd need some tissues, and he wasn't wrong.

The Yorkshireman was emotional throughout with his mum, sister and partner there, before a long embrace with Root.

This fifth and final Test is taking place in Dharamsala in the foothills of Himalayas.

It's been around 11-13 degrees so far this morning and we've seen the England team sat in coats in the changing room and the India team wearing beanie hats.

It's a beautiful picturesque ground and TMS commentators Henry Moeran and Daniel Norcross have been discussing where it sits in the most beautiful cricket grounds.

    Have a watch.
