  1. rain stops play

No play today at Derbypublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 5 April

    Derbyshire v Gloucestershire

Definitely not the start to the season anyone wanted at Derby, where the heavy overnight rain has ruled out the prospects of any play at all on the opening day.

Probably not a surprise as Derby and the nearby River Derwent have been bombarded with rain this winter.

For now, it'll be back to the indoor nets for the Derbyshire and Gloucestershire players and they'll hope to get their Division Two fixture up and running tomorrow.

Very wet in the Garden of England this morning, and though the covers are off and the sun is peeping through the clouds, there will be no play before lunch, at least, on this opening day at Canterbury.

Big mopping up job for the Kent ground staff as there were some small pools of standing water on the very soggy outfield at 09:30 BST.
